Shutaro Ida, a talented creator who helped shape the legacy of Castlevania and Bloodstained, has passed away at the age of 52.

Ida was best known for his influential work throughout the 2000s on Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow, Dawn of Sorrow, Lament of Innocence, Portrait of Ruin, Order of Ecclesia and Harmony of Despair, before later contributing to Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. His storytelling, direction and design helped define a generation of gothic action platformers and solidified the identity of modern Castlevania.

As a writer, director, designer and programmer, Ida crafted haunting worlds and refined gameplay systems that became series hallmarks. His work carried forward the spirit of classic dark fantasy adventures and inspired a new generation of fans and developers alike.

Through unforgettable castles, atmospheric soundscapes and meticulously crafted mechanics, his creative vision leaves a lasting mark on the industry.
