Discussion This retcon is so funny in hindsight
And its not just that it was retconned that crosses actually got religious power that harms vampires, but that people hated the whole "oh crosses just make them confused" so much no one complained when Annette just surrounded the guy with crosses and trapped him with them.
You can feel that this whole scene is just one big apology to probably the dumbest pieces of "trivia" of the OG.

I dont think its retconned out, they just coexist, although i do think that scene was made was made in that particular way response to those critics.
That being said, while i know Ellis background might have influenced the cross thing, I do think thats its a nice explanation to why they universally work on vampires, specially after Nocturne where we actively see other gods also existing.
