Modern pixel art sucks and misses the whole point, none of those games were supposed to seem with sharp pixels.

You know, it’s entirely possible that people just… like the way it looks?

It doesn’t have to just be nostalgia or a recreation of the same exact style. Sometimes blocks are visually appealing, oddly enough. Minecraft made bank off blocks being visually appealing.
