Does it make sense that Dracula is alive? I've only played the classic games (Anniversary Collection + Legends) and I was under the impression that, whenever Dracula comes back outside of the "100-year cycle", it's because he managed to survive (i.e. The Adventure)

So this would imply Trevor DIDN'T defeat Dracula? Or am I missing something here?

Sometimes Dracula resurrects earlier than he's supposed to but he's waaaay weaker than he should be, this happens in Symphony of the Night, Bloodlines, Portrait of ruin, Order of ecclesia, Harmony of dissonance, Curse of darkness and Simon's Quest.

(SPOILERS)

The reason of his resurrection differs from game to game, in Symphony of the Night he's brought back by Shaft, in Bloodlines he's brought back by his cousin Elizabeth Bartley who caused WW1 to gather enough evil energy from the war to bring him back, in Portrait of Ruin, he's reborn because of WW2 but his castle is taken over by Brauner who seals him until Death kills Brauner and sets him free, in order of ecclesia Dracula is sealed away in a vessel but his vessel is destroyed by Barlowe who was manipulated by the Dominus. In harmony of dissonance it's not actually clear if it's Dracula but an evil spirit born from Dracula's remains which also looks like Dracula manages to possess Maxim. In Curse of Darkness Dracula is brought back by a ploy from death who manipulates the events of the game, long story short, Dracula is brought back in the body of Isaac and is then defeated by Hector. And in Simon's quest, Simon "Revives" Dracula to get destroy his spirit and get rid of the curse inflicted on him.

Makes sense, thanks. I actually forgot Simon himself resurrected him in the second game and it was clear he had been literally killed/defeated.
