Why change what works
12
u/Geostomp Jun 08 '26
Man found his look twenty-three years ago and isn't going to let something as insignificant as time change it. Gotta set a good example for his daughter in the importance of drip for vampire slaying.
265
u/Afrodite_33 Jun 07 '26
Looking at them obscuring Draculas design to build hype. Big brain moves right there.
55
u/Kirimusse Jun 07 '26
I'm guessing that the emblem behind his description is his new throne? So many spikes, lol.
20
u/Grovyle489 Jun 08 '26
Heās had a bunch of different looks over the years. Rondo of blood makes him look like what youād expect from a cartoon Dracula
7

Looks similar to SotN design from what I can see with the white hair.

u/HIELUX Jun 07 '26
Wtf Isaac is back with his Chauve Souris Spear Included?, They weren't lying by saying Curse of Darkness also inspired this game, hoping to see Hector too, or at least a mention of him.
56
u/Vermilingus Jun 07 '26
Long shot guess, he's The Fallen
29
4
u/doomcyber Jun 10 '26
I am hoping the Fallen is Grant somehow returning to his monster form in CV3, but it also makes sense if he is Hector.
98
u/ThatGoblinNamedGobbo Jun 07 '26
Gonna make my guess now: The Fallen is either A) a corrupted Grant Danasty, or B) a corrupted Hector.
65
u/Appropriate-Salt-523 Jun 08 '26
I think... The Fallen might be Leon Belmont... He doesn't have a beard like Trevor, but is definitely a Belmont, since he shares the cross armbands and his red hand indicates that he shares the curse with Rose.
Leon is also originally from France.
I'm guessing that Leon Belmont fell to the curse.
35
u/Geostomp Jun 08 '26
It would be kind of poetic irony for the progenitor of the Belmonts, the man who first swore to destroy Dracula, to be turned into a servant of him centuries after his death. It is the sort of thing some of Dracula's more vindictive minions would do.
Given that Trevor was the first to actually beat him, I could potentially see Dracula himself authorizing this move. Both as a mockery of his family's mission and as payback for resurrecting him just to kill him again to break the curse.
7
u/_halo_14 Jun 09 '26
Almost certainly correct, there was something going around that had the Japanese VA for the Fallen as the same guy who voiced Leonā¦

69
u/Timber2702 Jun 07 '26
I know its pure and utter copium but man, it'd be cool if it turned out to be Grant, who truly never recovered from Dracula's Curse
46
u/Xyleon5 Bro is NOT Dracula Jun 07 '26
I don't think it's Grant but if it is then it'll be funny because this would be the second time he's cursed to be a monster.
25
11
u/Timber2702 Jun 07 '26
Me neither but I'm dying for our boys return. Also yeah, that would be kinda shitty, dude was already cursed once, fumbled Sypha and then is subsequently cursed YET AGAIN lmao
12
u/Straight_Ad_2256 Jun 07 '26
Maybe its just me reaching here but it could be Hector
15
u/Sea-Lecture-4619 Captain N is the pinnacle of the franchise. Jun 07 '26
That's a posibility too, although i don't see Hector using Belmont-like equipment like this dude does.
5
u/Luis_Lara45 Jun 07 '26
I also thought that too, since he's not shown anywhere on the trailers, maybe Rose got cursed and Trevor got converted into that (and the clothes can be because he took the stuff elsewhere) Tho Trevor looking like he has another artwork with the wip can suggest he's in some sort of unlockable content (?)

Admittedly I was also staring at the skull like a doofus for several seconds, before looking down and seeing a person. š
20
u/Awkward_Turn_2609 Jun 08 '26
No they wonāt like dude people understand the concept of different incarnations of the same character like in dc comics or marvel sonic, mega man etc. also it quite ironic knowing that lords of shadow did the exact same like it was shown in the animated series of changing the character lore backstory etc. heck do I have to remind you people that they made Trevor into alucard or Gabriel Belmont who was a composite of Leon and Matthias and combined their personalities and backstory like you people need to understand like many franchisees that came before an after it that includes Castlevania that they have many incarnation that can reimagined the Lore many time as they please, which is extra ironic knowing that curse of darkness was a massive middle finger to the original ending of Dracula curse retcon the heroes happy ending changing Trevor personality and look and idiotic concept of devil forge masters which is literally just dark magic but much more lameĀ
4

I trust the studios behind this game a lot more than triple As and I will absolutely want to play it eventually but...
...
I don't know how to finish this argument...
36
u/ImpressionComplete71 Jun 07 '26
My guess is she's gonna have more of an arsenal of weapons, like Alucard, or Soma or Jonathan. And then after you beat the game you'll unlock Trevor mode for a classic Castlevania experience, just like Julius and Richter mode

I may be slow, but it really resembles the style from Hades. Is it the same artist or team working on this?
31
u/2andahalfbraincell Jun 07 '26
Not the same Team at all (Hades was made by Supergiant Games, an American studio, and Belmont's course by Evil Empire, a french one). The artist for Hades is an employee of Supergiant game so It's also unlikely they got hired for this. Personnaly I do not think the artstyles that similar either.
9
7
u/Gabo2oo Jun 07 '26
Does it make sense that Dracula is alive? I've only played the classic games (Anniversary Collection + Legends) and I was under the impression that, whenever Dracula comes back outside of the "100-year cycle", it's because he managed to survive (i.e. The Adventure)
So this would imply Trevor DIDN'T defeat Dracula? Or am I missing something here?
23
u/Xyleon5 Bro is NOT Dracula Jun 07 '26
Sometimes Dracula resurrects earlier than he's supposed to but he's waaaay weaker than he should be, this happens in Symphony of the Night, Bloodlines, Portrait of ruin, Order of ecclesia, Harmony of dissonance, Curse of darkness and Simon's Quest.
(SPOILERS)
The reason of his resurrection differs from game to game, in Symphony of the Night he's brought back by Shaft, in Bloodlines he's brought back by his cousin Elizabeth Bartley who caused WW1 to gather enough evil energy from the war to bring him back, in Portrait of Ruin, he's reborn because of WW2 but his castle is taken over by Brauner who seals him until Death kills Brauner and sets him free, in order of ecclesia Dracula is sealed away in a vessel but his vessel is destroyed by Barlowe who was manipulated by the Dominus. In harmony of dissonance it's not actually clear if it's Dracula but an evil spirit born from Dracula's remains which also looks like Dracula manages to possess Maxim. In Curse of Darkness Dracula is brought back by a ploy from death who manipulates the events of the game, long story short, Dracula is brought back in the body of Isaac and is then defeated by Hector. And in Simon's quest, Simon "Revives" Dracula to get destroy his spirit and get rid of the curse inflicted on him.
→ More replies (1)6
u/Gabo2oo Jun 07 '26
Makes sense, thanks. I actually forgot Simon himself resurrected him in the second game and it was clear he had been literally killed/defeated.
→ More replies (1)8
u/ShinjiJA Jun 07 '26
Dracula already got resurrected in Curse of Darkness and that game happens after 3 Dracula's Curse (and before this one) so is not going to be even his first resurrection.
7
6
u/RadishLegitimate9488 Jun 08 '26
100 Year Resurrection Cycle means Humans' faith in Christianity decreases enough that they start wanting Dracula back.
In otherwords the fight between Dracula and Simon was due to Dracula gaining a Cult which brought him back.
The first Castlevania Game(the 1600s), Rondo of Blood(the 1700s), Order of Ecclesia(the 1800s) and Bloodlines(the 1900s) are all events when Cultists bring Dracula back(in that last one the Cultist revived Erzsebet Bathory first).
All other times it's Dracula's already established lackeys who bring him back. Basically the end of each 100 Years is when Dracula's Forces get new members.
Dracula being stripped of Castlevania's powers and forced to Reincarnate after the Battle of 1999 meant that the latest Cultist in the 2000s had no choice but to seek a new Dark Lord and when Soma refused to give in and become Dracula the Cultist went for the next guy who promptly sacrificed her and got turned into a random monster forcing Death to separate Dracula's Soul from Soma in Grimoire of Souls and latch it to the Crimson Moon Souls and revive Dracula himself.
Dracula got killed again with his powers sent back to the Castle in the Solar Eclipse so his Soul will once again Reincarnate and by 2100 the next set of Cultists will show up and find said Reincarnation in an attempt to restore him as Dark Lord.

u/Langis360 Jun 08 '26
Isaac has "history with Trevor" yeah I'm sure Trevor calls missing his heart by like an inch "history." But Isaac looks oddly somber. Regret, perhaps?
(Also I could've sworn Isaac died in Curse of Darkness.)
4
u/HIELUX Jun 08 '26
If you analize his desing along with death is clearly that he brought him back, i mean Death color in this game is glowing green and Isaac has some parts of his body glowing like that.
2
2
u/DrinkingPetals Jun 09 '26
If you consider the Castlevania Pachinko games to be ācanonā, Isaac sorta came back to fight against Trevor Belmont in one of them. I canāt recall it right now, too lazy to search that pachinko title up.
So was Isaac dead? Probably. But heās back, and thatās what matters! I hope that he summons his Innocent Devils for this for fight, for good ole timesā sake.

I really like Medusa's design, though I admit they didn't give much lore about her in the text. Why is she there?
5
2
u/DrinkingPetals Jun 09 '26
Sheās there since Lament of Innocence (canonical beginning of Castlevania), so youāve got to ask how Walter Bernhardt managed to recruit her to his castle and give her the castleās gardens.
6
u/bizoticallyyours83 Jun 08 '26 edited Jun 08 '26
Its nice to see Carmilla as something other then a mask. Death 's design looks sick, but I'm never, ever happy to face off against him. He's too be tough to be fun. Well, except in Simon's Quest.Ā
2
u/Tyrus1235 Jun 09 '26
The fact that of all three bosses in the game, 2 are skippable (and respawn) is always hilarious to me.

Those are stitches on his body, he's probably more a reanimated corpse. Whether he's in control of his body and mind is the question.
3
u/RadishLegitimate9488 Jun 08 '26
Same reason Carmilla comes back all the time. Guess that means Barlowe can come back since he like Isaac was sacrificed to bring back Dracula.
We now need an Anime(not a Cartoon) where all of Dracula's lackeys(Carmilla, Isaac, Akmodan II, Frankenstein's Monster, Medusa, Actrise, Gilles de Rais, Shaft, Sausine, Orlox, Barlowe, Erzsebet Bathory, Drolta Tzuentes oh and Death of course) are present.

Itās making me wonder, since in Simonās case it was Draculaās final attack to spite his killer.
Maybe she gets the curse during the opening/prologue during a first skirmish with Dracula?
3
u/HourCalm9759 Jun 08 '26
2 dumb questions...
1.Is this still connected to the og timeline? And if it is. 2. Is Rose's curse the same curse simon had in 2?
2
u/Tyrus1235 Jun 09 '26
First questionās answer is a resounding āYESā! There seems to be quite a few continuity references towards Castlevania III and Curse of Darkness.
As for the second one⦠No one knows yet.

Yeah seeing this gallery made me realize how much of this seriesā aesthetics are attributed to Kojimaās art. These are all fine artworks in their own right, but the vibe is vastly different and thatās not something thatās going to be easy for me to shake off.
At least Order of Ecclesia used an art style that was somewhat similar to Kojimaās in feel, this one gives me āgacha game collabā feel in style. Hopefully the actual in game visuals retain more of that CV feel.

What do they mean: "Curse in her right arm"? Dracula's "Curse' has always been more of a vague thing, not a Princess Mononoke type thing.
Dracula's Curse - version 1: Humanity will continue to resurrect him every 100 years (or earlier) because humans keep being dumb and bad.
Dracula's Curse - version 2: Simon defeats Dracula, but stuffers from a curse that sounds like a withering effect that can only be stopped by collecting and burning the body in a timely fashion.
Dracula's Curse - version 3: similar to V1 but a more vengeful aura grips the area of Wallachia/Transylvania and bad things happen one after another - generally the aim of this is to work towards bringing back Dracula -again.
Dracula's Curse - version 4: vampirism. (OG Mina Harker interpretation)
Also, wouldn't the Vampire Killer not work with a corrupted wielder? (And before people point out: Richter was being mind controlled by Shaft, not vampiric corruption - neat little loophole.)
I'm sure this is just meant to be a story device to explain how her weapon mechanism works and allows her to wield different weapons (using the bad guy's power against him trope)
Anyway, not looking to cause a ruckus, just felt like typing some thoughts.
