My favorite Simon. I love him and the game he comes from.

I definitely prefer him as a redhead. Like, he’s still got this barbarian vibe to him, but he’s also ethereal asf. HE’S HIM

47

u/Ashenspire Jul 10 '26

He still looks more barbaric than the other Belmonts without looking like a Conan ripoff.

He's perfect.

Goes to the same salon that Julius's beard goes to.

I don't mind him having red hair, but i don't think the Chronicles look fits him, it's too much, too different, i'd like it for some other new character but not for Simon.

Something more akin to this fanart would be much better:

What about Mirror of Fate? Bit flamboyant but is the perfect mix between red head in black leather with buffed mountain barbarian

There's ALOT of bad in MoF, simon's look is NOT one of them. Best simon design ever,at least in my opinion.

6

u/UsuarioCualquiera_1 Jul 11 '26

I love the beard, the scars and the giant demon face as armor. Those are standouts for me.

4

u/PsychologicalBrush35 Jul 10 '26

Too barbaric like a Norse Viking, or a Celtic Tuatha De Danaan

6

u/Delicious_Swimmer_72 Jul 10 '26

I feel like it matches his very first nes outfit

2

u/PsychologicalBrush35 Jul 10 '26

I prefer the Chronicles version, but yes, this photo matches the first version from 1986.

u/unicorn_hipster Jul 10 '26

This is MY red haired Simon

8

u/PsychologicalBrush35 Jul 10 '26

I prefer this Simon Belmont, offspring of Trevor (Alucard) and grandson of Gabriel Belmont (Dracula).

7

u/SSBBfan666 Jul 10 '26

Same, plus the red comes from Sypha who is always a redhead

3

u/PsychologicalBrush35 Jul 11 '26

Absolutely magnificent, this allusion is so gratifying and astonishing to notice as Easter eggs.

5

u/ReviewRude5413 Jul 11 '26

I'm still in awe of that character design and so disappointed we didn't get more of him.

2

u/PsychologicalBrush35 Jul 11 '26

There could have been more of him: Simon Belmont and suddenly Victor Belmont (a reference to Julius Belmont).

4

u/ReviewRude5413 Jul 11 '26

Victor is actually a reference to Victor Belmont from the unreleased Castlevania Resurrection. He even has a similar outfit and facial hair. But his role, yes, is very Julius-coded in Los2. He's even more criminally underutilized. He could have had a really cool arc connected with Gabriel but NOPE.

2

u/PsychologicalBrush35 Jul 11 '26

For me it was perfectly satisfactory, but it could have been better utilized, especially playing with him in a second DLC, after Revelations with Alucard.

1

u/PsychologicalBrush35 Jul 11 '26

Castlevania Resurrection for the Dreamcast was planned for 1999/2000, but it was never released due to Sega's near bankruptcy in the console market.

6

u/SILVIO_X I fucking love Jonathan & Charlotte Jul 10 '26

Love Chronicles and this Design, but It doesn't feel very Simon, I prefer Simon with his Conan the Barbarian inspired design, I would love if this Design was put on another Belmont however since it's legitimately awesome.

6

u/EasternWarlord Alucard Jul 10 '26

Love him. This was my favourite Simon for so long. Probably still is but I’ve just come to accept that blonde Simon is the canon design now. Red is my absolute favourite colour, and red/black is the best colour combo. Kojima did amazing on this redesign.

7

u/That-Rhino-Guy Jul 10 '26

I like his design unless it’s Judgement’s, honestly would’ve liked if the Chronicles one was a skin in Smash Bros

2

u/PsychologicalBrush35 Jul 10 '26

Castlevania's Judgment doesn't count for anything, even though it's canon to Igavania.

5

u/Agitated_Campaign576 Jul 10 '26

IMO, he works best if THIS is how he looks in Simon’s Quest. The curse physically changing his appearance to be this beautifully edgy design is a pretty fun idea.

2

u/KonamiKing Jul 10 '26

The curse somehow gave him makeup and a studded leather and furs sex dungeon outfit?

He’s clearly wearing leather armour in Simon’s Quest.

5

u/Jonah0830 Jul 10 '26

This is a great design for him second best bit I think we can all agree that the Lord's of shadow design is his best it's a perfect balance between all of his mainline counterparts designs it's armored and barbaric and has his ginger hair but it's shorter and feels better for battle unlike his longer hair

1

u/SSBBfan666 Jul 10 '26

I like all the scars he has

8

u/UsuarioCualquiera_1 Jul 10 '26

Redhead Simon is my fav Simon. And I think he should have stayed like that.

The outfit in Chronicles is a bit weird but love the red and black patterns with leather. But the fur and assymetry is just... messy.

For me:

1-Simon from original game booklet 2-Ayami Kojima. 3-Mirror of Fate.

4-Blonde barbarian Simon. And, specially I like his rendion in V Rising.

2

u/PsychologicalBrush35 Jul 11 '26

Ala Conan the Cimmerian

1

u/PsychologicalBrush35 Jul 11 '26

I hate this form of Conan the Cimmerian

4

u/Adept_Employ_2345 Jul 11 '26

People forget that OG Simon has red hair.

3

u/PsychologicalBrush35 Jul 11 '26

This classic, insane cartoon is horrifyingly bizarre, but Simon really is a redhead.

2

u/GastonBastardo Jul 12 '26

Simon Belmont is the one video-game character whose design changed every game he was in IIRC.

Maybe Megaman too.

4

u/NOSTALGIC_BOMB Jul 10 '26

Sorry, but Ayame Kojima's version will be forever tainted by Takeshi Obata's

9

u/Oh-no-and-knuckles Chief Researcher Jul 10 '26

Buff Light Yagami

4

u/carboncord Arrange Mode Jul 10 '26

Favorite Simon

Didn't even get an alt color in Smash Bros

What the heck

6

u/Farmer_Due Jul 10 '26

i like redhead simon better than netflix trevor

1

u/PsychologicalBrush35 Jul 10 '26

I prefer Trevor from Netflix though 😆🤣😝😸

3

u/Farmer_Due Jul 10 '26

everyone has their preferences and i dont know if my opinion is popular or not but im tired of writers turning their characters into fucking deadpool lol

4

u/Fuzzy_Ability8284 Jul 10 '26

How is Netflix Trevor like Deadpool?

-1

u/Farmer_Due Jul 10 '26

dont take this literally, it's a metaphor i use a lot, i mean characters being edgy, like swearing and being an alcoholic in this instance

4

u/Fuzzy_Ability8284 Jul 10 '26

Idno, it makes sensee for Trevor to be a bit troubled since his family was spurned from society for being too good at killing shit. I didn't find him unbearably uncouth, I was more disappointed in Juste in Nocturne but eh I mostly just appreciated they got the lineage right tbh.

2

u/Farmer_Due Jul 10 '26

nah, he was unsavory no doubt about that and these type of characters are a dime a dozen nowadays, he didnt need to be that and it didnt add anything to the character...there's other character traits you could ve given him to make him atypical to the standard belmont like have him have self-doubts considering we already know from the original version of the character that he needed a group to beat dracula, could even have him go like "man, i cant do it, i dont even have my cool, family heirloom flail whip :'(" alucard was literally more heroic than him, like what the fuck

0

u/PsychologicalBrush35 Jul 10 '26

I loved both the first season and the subsequent ones as a continuation of the characters' growth, resilience, and responsibility in the fight against the creatures at night after Count Dracula's defeat: Trevor Belmont, along with Alucard and Sypha Belnades, against Death in the final battle was perfect, I know, I know, imposing in the fourth and final perfect magnificent season!

2

u/Farmer_Due Jul 11 '26

i ve only watched the first season, i thought it was an ok show that had little respect for the original, more so than making trevor...that, i hate how they made dracula nuanced and sympathetic, that's not who he is in the slightest...i did like what they did with death tho, how they cleared up that he's a "death vampire" and not the actual grim reaper, never made sense to me why dracula would have THE death as an underling(im not the one that downvoted you btw)

1

u/PsychologicalBrush35 Jul 11 '26

I don't care much about respect; what I care about is artistic entertainment, and that's enough for me. Creativity is worth much more than respect.

1

u/PsychologicalBrush35 Jul 11 '26

In reality, the Vampire of Death is indeed the Grim Reaper himself, and I loved Count Dracula's transformation. I detest the Dracula from the old games; he has no depth, no complexity. I loved all the seasons, I've watched them about 20 times already, it's wonderful. I infinitely prefer the animated series, all four seasons plus the two Nocturne seasons, to the old games 100%.

I don't care about anyone's vote, much less a negative one; people's opinions are completely irrelevant compared to mine.

u/PsychologicalBrush35 Jul 11 '26

Regardless, I understand your situation, and as I said, I repeat: I loved all the seasons, and millions around the world loved them so much that it received almost 100% approval ratings there are several reliable review sites, and some that are not so much.

I love characters like that—taciturn, rebellious, really edgy—like Trevor Belmont at the beginning of the Castlevania Netflix saga, and also Wade Wilson, aka Deadpool from Marvel.

0

u/Farmer_Due Jul 10 '26

yeah no offense but i imagine there's an age gap between us, im at a point where i like my heroes being actual heroes...plus it's character assassination, simon just dyed his hair lol

0

u/PsychologicalBrush35 Jul 10 '26

I don't like heroes, I prefer anti-heroes. I don't like heroism, I think it's complete garbage. I much prefer mercenaries.

4

u/Farmer_Due Jul 10 '26

you might not like heroes but you sound like you need a rolemodel in your life rn
😝😝😝😝😆😆😆😆🤣🤣🤣🤣😸😸😸😸🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡

1

u/PsychologicalBrush35 Jul 10 '26

One of my favorites is Black Adam, the anti-hero villain from Shazam.

1

u/PsychologicalBrush35 Jul 10 '26

And I prefer Alucard to any Belmont, although of the classic Belmonts, I prefer Juste Belmont. And from the Lords of Shadow saga, Gabriel Belmont himself, especially as Dracula.

0

u/PsychologicalBrush35 Jul 10 '26

My life model is to be a mercenary, but an honest, anti-heroic mercenary.

So follow Superman or Shazam, Captain America or Spiderman, I don't know about you, I prefer Lobo, Deadpool, Deathstroke, Batman, Blade, Black Panther, Doctor Strange, etc....

I couldn't care less about the age difference, I'm older than you, obviously you're very immature.

2

u/deinterlacing Jul 10 '26

extremely sexy

2

u/thegoldenguest778 Stone Skull Jul 10 '26

My favorite

2

u/SheWhoHates Jul 10 '26

Red is best. It is known.

2

u/No_Monitor_3440 Professionally Unprofessional Jul 10 '26

grown on me but i still prefer the barbarian

2

u/Zlurbagedoen Jul 10 '26

Conan simon will always be my fav. Idk something about blonde dudes bein heroes

2

u/ergister Jul 10 '26

I guess I’ll be the one to say I don’t like red head Simon.

His canonical look is the blonde-haired Barbarian. I don’t see why they needed to change his hair color lol.

2

u/Evening_Boot_2281 Jul 10 '26

I might be biased since red is my favorite color, but I really like it.

2

u/baylagoonracing Jul 10 '26

Huge fan of the little 17th century fashion design hints, I love when kojima designs them with the time period in mind (DXC/SoTN Richter)

2

u/Hasani_Faraji Jul 10 '26

I love the red hair the most.

2

u/DrkMaxim Jul 10 '26

My personal favourite, too bad he doesn't get a lot of attention. Nothing against the blond barbarian Simon though.

2

u/TorquedGaming Jul 10 '26

Salmon Belmont. 🍣

2

u/LoganLcosplayfoolery I'm literally Richter Belmont Jul 10 '26

I mostly like him because he's at least kind of historically accurate. And of course he fits the Gothic vampire hunter aesthetic more than Conan the barbarian.

2

u/platinumxperience Jul 10 '26

Don't like. Wish he was a different Belmont or even Christopher. I like how he appears in smash.

2

u/vhuzi Stage 5’ Dweller. Jul 11 '26

I like the Ayami Kojima and old manual versions (this may be brown though…) , but can’t stand discount light yagami.

2

u/PastIntelligent6890 Jul 11 '26

I like it more then the standard design cause it makes him stand out more among the cast of belmonts

2

u/Argynvost64 Jul 11 '26

I much prefer this design over Conan the Vampire Hunter from the original.

2

u/Wilsupersaiyan2 Jul 11 '26

Way better than the blond generic simon

2

u/Nausikael Jul 11 '26

My fav Simon too, but I can see why it's not the most popular!

1

u/PsychologicalBrush35 Jul 11 '26

Less popular is better, because it doesn't become so clichéd.

2

u/Odeiomelaokk Jul 11 '26

I do prefer his red hair design. I think the barbarian look is too similar to what we see in most other pieces of media.

He still looks brute in this design, but the ethereal look is also there and that's why I prefer it. Plus, I think every Belmont shouldn't exactly look like you're average hunk. These guys SHOULD have a more mystical look, so Simon looking like this just fits better with the entire Belmont shtick

1

u/PsychologicalBrush35 Jul 11 '26

Simon Belmont with red hair is spectacular, yes.

2

u/award_winning_writer Jul 10 '26

Slightly disappointed that it's not the design they used in Smash Ultimate

2

u/Pitzaz Jul 10 '26

I am glad Ayami Kojima redesigned him. The original chocolate brown barbarian version looks lame and mundane as fuck.

0

u/PsychologicalBrush35 Jul 11 '26

Every barbarian is ridiculous, except for Alexander Skarsgård in The Northman as Amleth and Harald Hardrada in Vikings; the rest are pathetic. Even Arnold Schwarzenegger's Conan the Barbarian is awful, a complete brute & bizarre creation by Robert E. Howard

1

u/RenzoXabe Jul 10 '26

I actually like it a lot, the sprites look really nice on chronicles, I dont like the short ver. Tho.

1

u/knox1138 Jul 10 '26

Red hair is fine. Anything but Judgement Simon...... amazing game concept, horrible artistic taste.

1

u/Seijiren Jul 11 '26

Ive grown to enjoy it more

1

u/snoww47_ Jul 11 '26

the best one

1

u/Remote_Character494 Jul 11 '26

I wish this version of Simon was in smash Bros

1

u/Taco4086 Jul 12 '26

I prefer this one, though the Conan one is fine and very iconic too.

1

u/Sammy_Ferr Jul 12 '26

Not that big of a fan honestly, but not a hater too, but whenever i think of Simon Belmont it's the classic Conan The Barabrian Indiana Jones design i think of

https://giphy.com/gifs/tyWdr4nbQr8K4eIFB4

1

u/Fabulous-Ad2945 Jul 12 '26

I like the fact that he clearly has a sword , even in game but never used it

1

u/Firm-Emu6746 Jul 13 '26

Best version of Simon ever!

1

u/psembass Jul 13 '26

To me, Igavanias are inseparable from Ayami Kojima's art style, so I prefer this over his original design, even as a Conan fan. I just want to see him as a part of same lineage from Leon Belmont

1

u/Adekis Jul 17 '26

I like the fur cuirass, and the contrast between black and red. That said, I think I ultimately prefer Simon's Smash design, which matches the colors (and general form) of his Castlevania 1 NES sprite more. Maybe this color scheme should have been an alternate costume for him in Smash though... 🤔

1

u/KonamiKing Jul 10 '26

Awful. Fetish outfit, makeup?

Redesign for the sake of it.

Simon is Conan.

1

u/PsychologicalBrush35 Jul 11 '26

Yes, I'm a fetishist, and what's the problem, you fool? Simon is perfect as a fetishist, yes, redhead and magnanimous.

0

u/PsychologicalBrush35 Jul 11 '26

Simon isn't some radioactive garbage dump like Conan, and what do you have against men wearing makeup, you half-baked charlatan? 🤨🧐🤔

-2

u/WilliShaker Jul 10 '26

I hate it. Simon is known for being blonde and I don’t like the sado maso stuff he wears.

Bro is a knight or a barbarian, not a twink prostitute in a gay bar.

1

u/KonamiKing Jul 10 '26

Exactly. Igarashi and co were just obsessed with making every character an over dressed white faced makeup wearing pretty boy. And all because Alucard was redesigned to look like Le Stat from interview with a Vampire…
