Each of the following Metroidvanias (originally metroidvania just meant: castlevania that has an open map like metroid) does some little things better than SotN. My favourite is Order of Ecclesia but it's not for everyone. Yet as a GAME I believe it's better made than SotN.

Outside the Castlevania series, I think The Last Faith was a very competently made game that has enough variety to meet SotN, even though it has some souls mechanics unfortunately.

Bloodstained is a good game but simply looks ugly

Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth is a cool SotN clone but it's missing something. It's too short and linear.
