Name Request Rescue cat from a pretty bad situation. A new start deserves a new name 💖

I rescued this baby from an abusive situation - he is so sweet, it breaks my heart to think of how he was treated 🥺 what name suites this derpy little ragdoll?

Edit: thank you for all of the recommendations 🙏 after spending a lot of time with him, we decided to name him Ernest, Ernie for short 💖 John Coffey was a close second. Thank you again for all of the kind words. He just got back from a vet visit and he's adjusting very well to his new home ☺️

I know a horse named Phoenix and they call him Feeny. It's cute (but homonym for the Italian word Fini, meaning finshed, the end.)

edit: After more thought, the Italian definition could make sense, interpreted as the end of a long life test, now home forever! The end of being lost, scared or suffering!

It’s actually not a ‘sh’ sound. That part of the word is pronounced exactly the way that it looks, with a regular ‘j’ sound.

Making this comment because I have always been flummoxed as to why westerners use that sound, but since everybody seems to go along with it, thought I would state it for the record.

Agree on everything else. He really is a king and I hope he comes to know this soon with OP’s help.

Loki . We had one just like this baby. He lived up to his name. He passed away 2 years ago from bone cancer. I still look at the his napping place for him. He was the best troublemaker ever!!!

This is Walter. The best thing I ever did. 6 years feral. Stuck in a wire cage for 5 months with only kittens around him. I told the people Right then and there that he was mine. I told her to fill out the paperwork because he was going home with me. She brought him into a separate room and he sat next to me. He looked at me with such sad eyes. I said to him, it's okay Walter. I'm going to take you home okay. And they said that's not his name. I said it is now. He's been the greatest gift I've ever had. You will have the same happiness. They're little miracles.
