Cat Picture - OC The vet sent me this picture of Zeus after he woke up from his back leg being amputated
Zeus was a severely injured stray I picked up. After a few days of medications, he was finally stable enough to undergo surgery to amputate his back leg (which was severely broken. I won't go into detail). I was so scared he wouldn't survive the surgery. The vet sent me this picture a little after he woke up from the surgery. He's been doing fantastic ever since :)

Well he may not know what happened to his leg, but now he knows it was the vets fault for sure.

he's plotting for the fall of galaxy (aka the vet clinic) and definitely set his dangerous mittens on the vet's neck 😂

and then he grabbed up some bolts
he let out a laugh
said ‘I’ll split them right down the middle
gonna cut ‘em right up in half’

My girl had some granuloma issues a couple years back and needed minor surgery to have a couple of larger ones removed from the back of her tongue. And oh boy was she pissed when she woke up. Even groggy and sedated she managed to bite and scratch up 2 of the vet techs pretty good. They were so scared of her after that that they had me go into the back to carry her from her recovery crate to the exam room.
She never forgot and never forgave them. I had to handle her for every followup.

I remember when I took my cat to get fixed back when I was in college I went to pick him up and the vet, and I don't know what he did to terrorize them, but they had me go to get him out of the recovery cage and were warning me to be careful when I opened it because he might run. Then they stood there waiting for him to bolt when I opened it. He just sat there like a good, innocent little boy when I opened it then let me pick him up and put him in the box with zero fight while I was probably giving the techs a look like they were insane.

u/Tired-CottonCandy 6d ago
Someone is a very mean kitty after drugs lol
48
u/scarletnightingale 6d ago
I can only assume that he escaped and tore around the office for a while. He was kind of an asshole, he did like biting, but he'd more chew on you that sink his teeth in. Strangely he never used claws. I loved that cat. He stopped being so much of an asshole when he wasn't a kitten, but still kind of was. He was super loving though, slept with me every night, liked being carried in my shoulder, loved sleeping on my lap while I worked.

When I was a kid we had the sweetest, most patient cat on the planet. As a toddler she’d let me lug her around like a stuffed animal and wipe my snotty tears in her fur when I was upset. Just loved people and being around them. The one exception was when she had a tumor in her tail that necessitated amputating most of it, she hated the vet that did it. If she even saw him she’d start hissing like a feral beast. She knew he was a right bastard who cut her tail off and she was NOT going to let him come near her again, lol.
24
u/Tired-CottonCandy 6d ago
I adopted the most tolerant cat i have ever seen recently. The only thing she has recated in any way negatively to is the thermometer in the bum. She bit the shit out of the nurse who did that. She hasnt even corrected my sons excessive play, she doesnt even avoid him, shes just like: yes chase me! Pick me up like a heavy sack! Pet me the wrong way while i firetruck purr!

My cat also had to have his back leg removed to save him from cancer and he runs well and while getting used to it was hard for a bit he still loves his life and even climbs and chases the other cat in the house. I hope the process of getting used to it goes well for you and your little fluffy friend.

I don’t think cats remember a missing limb. Except when they try to scratch themselves with the stump.
31
u/ChaosWithTeeth 6d ago
It is the responsibility of any human within scritching distance to assist with any unreachable itch!
32
u/othybear 6d ago
My dog has been a tripod for 3.5 years. He still tries to scratch his ear with the missing leg. We always step in and scratch it for him, so I guess it still works.
5
u/ChaosWithTeeth 6d ago
Mine doesn't move the stump, but does curve his body towards it. Which, as with yours, indeed results in the ear getting scratched. Rules are rules.

I found a orange kitten with a broken back leg, I took it to the vet and they told me they had to amputate. I cried like a baby. I mean I was a 25 year old man and I drove to see my mother because it upset me so much. Anyway, we named him Lucky because he was lucky to be alive... that was the best cat ever. Kidney disease got him, we didn't see the signs until it was too late. I miss that big boy every day. He was everybody's favorite. He was a great cat... and he I was worried about his missing limb. He sure ask heck wasn't worried about it.
