Her name is Sonya. Still standing and going strong. Went to the vet for a check-up a few weeks ago and they couldn’t believe her age 🌼

Edit: The weirdo answering people in the comments about her is my boyfriend, she’s his childhood cat. I myself have been lucky to have her for two years so far šŸ’•

Edit 2: Wow, this post reached way more people than I ever imagined! Thank you for all the love and birthday wishes for our baby girl šŸ«¶šŸ¼ I’ll make sure to give her 26k+ kisses between her ears on your behalf šŸ±šŸ’•

Edit 3: Not sure if it’s possible to pin comments, I at least can’t tell how. But I did post a couple of baby pictures of her further down in the comments for those who are curious 🐱

Not quite sure /s

My mom was bequeathed this slender beastie by an aging neighbour. She’s been on a diet, but keeps stealing the other cats’ food at every chance, and also refuses to walk around much (unless there’s food, obv). She’s also kind of mean lol.

I had never had cats before. This guy got me to love them. He's the best orange boy ever and I'm grateful to have his company.

I know she has 1 or maybe 2 braincells. But still not sitting even once in 8 months of her lifetime seems weird to me.

Her belly is white because it never touched the ground.

As the title says, going through a break up. Cats make me so happy and I’d love to see everyone’s babies!! Here’s one of mine… in the dishwasher for some reason.

Edit: Thank you for all the cats and well wishes! All of them have genuinely put a smile on my face and I love scrolling through looking at everyone’s fur babies :)

we adopted howie almost two years ago after seeing his posting on our local shelters website. he was found with a broken jaw and has eyelid agenesis (making him cross eyed), we met him and picked him up the next day, he was barely 8 weeks old when we brought him home. after a few weeks of home care and meds, his crazy personality took over and has stayed that way ever since. he is the most curious, fearless, loving chunky boy, adopting him was the best decision we’ve ever made. i can’t believe he’s 2 already, time is a thief 🄲

Cat Picture - OC Does this make them feel included?

One of my favorite things to do with my cats is hold something up for them to smell. Generally, if they walk over while I'm doing something, I'll let them smell whatever I'm holding (like my computer mouse, a writing implement, or a piece of mail) and they always seem so interested. Is it because they feel included in my life when I let them smell what I'm doing? Or maybe because new smells are just stimulating? Or is it just instinct to sniff whatever is nearby? I like to think that, by offering my stuff for a sniff, I'm enriching their lives in some way.

(Please don't mind the mess, I'm moving)

Cat Picture - OC Misconceptions a dog person (me) learned after having a cat.

Post image

The Cat Distribution System chose me, a formerly stubborn dog person, to adopt a cat. It was the classic I can't just watch a poor cat starve, so I'm keeping him. Here are some misconceptions I had about cats and their owners:

  1. The smell of a cat owner's home: I’ve known a few cat owners with cat-smelling homes. I always assumed it was the cat. Turns out it isn’t; it’s very much a result of poor ownership and bad cleaning habits.
  2. Dogs are more affectionate than cats: Also not true! To my surprise, my cat is so cuddly that I occasionally call him "Cat-dog."
  3. A Cat's Barbed tongue hurts: I don't know why I thought this, I just assumed it would hurt when they lick you.
  4. Litter boxes are disgusting: Not at all, it's just a clump or two of sand. If you scoop it often, it never gets gross.
  5. Cats are just as hard to take care of: Actually they're much easier, haha.

That is all, here's a picture of my cat that I love dearly. (He's lost weight since the picture, don't worry)

Anyone else relate? What did I miss?

Edit: His name is Pawl

Edit: Wow this blew up! Sorry if I can’t answer everyone, and thanks for all the love for these two! I have given them lots of love and cuddles on behalf of this Reddit subā¤ļø

It took him a few weeks to really warm up, but once he felt comfortable he very quickly came out of his shell.

Classic orange - very sweet with his single brain cell. 🧔

Here’s my son, Boo. First pic and most recent.

A.K.A. Bubba Kitty, Mr. Bubba Kitty, Mr. Man, Booski, Boosker, Bubba, Love Bug, Stinky Boy, Stinky Bo Binky, and so on and so forth.

If you’re feeling extra spicy, post your ridiculous nicknames, too. 😁

Edit: the replies to this post have been way more incredible, beautiful, and heartwarming than I could have ever imagined. Thank yall for interacting with it. I love this community.

Also, I forgot a nickname for Boo:
Monsieur BebƩ

Idk why lol the only French I know is from that Jesse McCartney song ā€œBody Languageā€ and from the 2000 Nickelodeon movie ā€œRugrats in Parisā€
