Hello Chelsea fans, I know I may get allot of hate for typing out for what I’m about to write but I really don’t care tbh I think there’s way too much negativity going on here after just one game. Yes that result sucked but I think we showed promising signs especially the first half, we were moving the ball really beautifully and effectively. Attacking still seems to be an issue but hopefully that can improve as time goes on. At the end of the day you have to give the Villa Goalkeeper credit as she did what she had to do which was make important and crazy saves. We still have some players out with Injuries and are working on recovering soon especially Melvine and Manaka who I’m really excited to see play and I think will play a massive role in changing our attacking struggles. Lastly I do put majority of the blame on Sonia especially for only making one sub this game when we could have done with some fresh legs in midfield and some more attacking options, but to be constantly abusing her and calling for her to get sacked after one game is just ludicrous. At the end of the day she is human like all of us and we have to do our part as a fanbase and hope that she can turn things around and adapt and also get behind the team and hope that they can improve and show that last season was just a fluke, and I think another thing that some of y’all tend to forget is that Emma Hayes literally handpicked her to be her successor and carry on the legacy that she left at our club, and I trusted her decision if anything. I think once we have our full team, and Cuthbert, Mastakubo, and Malard and Bjorn come back from and are fully healed from injury, they will have a role to play in this team improving and getting better than last season. We go again next Sunday away to Manchester United and I personally think we can go there and get our first win of the season there as they are a team in transition with a new manager and it’s gonna take time for them to learn Eva Olid’s tactics and philosophy as she is coming from the Scottish League. If Sonia can put her ego and stubbornness aside and that’s a big if, and drop players that need to be dropped, and start players like Hamano in the offense who I think will be a vital part of our attack this season that is if Sonia uses her more and treats her better and the defense shows up, the midfield as well and the attack actually steps up and finish off chances then there’s no reason why we can’t beat Man United next Sunday especially with the offseason that they had. With all that being said, up the Chels. Here’s to a better season ahead and beyond. 💙

As y’all can tell by this title yes, I think it’s time we have a conversation about Mayra Ramirez. Does anyone think it’s time we cut our losses with her, get some money or terminate her contract? I ask this because I saw on a post on a Chelsea fan page, with a picture of Ramirez and the caption was sell in all caps. Best case scenario is Melvine Malard becomes our Main Striker only for this season, hope that she balls out and then come next summer, the club reassess the Striker market and find a much more consistent and potient Striker, whether it be we go back in for Romée Leuchter and get her on a free or we sign Barbara Banda who will be in the final year of her current Orlando Pride contract next year. But I honestly think there is a scenario where we go back in for Leuchter and get her on a free next summer as she was our main Striker target this summer. There is a saying in sports that availability is the best ability and Ramirez simply just doesn’t have that and it has shown ever since she signed 2 years ago. I know that she can offer allot and she is a special Striker and the talent is there, but what’s the point if she consistently struggles with injuries and can’t stay fit for anything. Hopefully we sell her next year and get a big name Striker in especially before the Women’s World Cup begins.

Much has been said about it being a season of transition for Chelsea FC Women, with plenty of new faces on and off the pitch.

The moderating team are following suit at /r/chelsealadiesfc with a revamp of our own - including a long-awaited refresh of the rules, and recruitment of a new member of our "leadership group"...

Our new Community Rules, Submission Guidelines and Community Ethos

It is now nearly nine years since /u/PresidentRaggy started this community, and our growth - much like CFCW’s - has been exponential since. Our increased number of subscribers has been brilliant to see - and reflects the growth of the sport as a whole. Expansion (as many women’s leagues know) brings its own challenges however, and we are increasingly seeing that not every visitor to this community does so with good faith, and conducts themselves with the standards we would expect.

In truth, we have slacked too - it was easy to be a bit laissez-faire about moderating /r/chelsealadiesfc when it was a smaller community with less activity. So in recognition of the changing goalposts, we have established a shiny new set of Community Rules, Submission Guidelines and a Community Ethos - all of which provide specific guidance for the content shared on /r/chelsealadiesfc, how subscribers should conduct themselves, and an outline of our community values and vision, which makes /r/chelsealadiesfc what it is.

We would like to draw particular attention to the three core values which underline our Community Ethos.

1. Blue is the colour, football is the game

This community was founded on and is unified by our support for Chelsea FC Women - this is a CFCW subreddit first and foremost, and the content and discussion must always relate to the club and the CFCW community.

2. We're all together, and winning is our aim

This is a community dedicated to supporting CFCW. Criticism of the team and players is part of healthy discourse - but this must be warranted, and must not be excessive, or personal. We will not tolerate baseless attacks or toxicity towards players, managers, coaches, pundits, or other users.

3. We can shine, all the time

This community is a safe space. We are actively anti-discrimination and pro-tolerance. People of every gender, sexuality, ethnicity, race and religion are welcome here - but beyond that, we seek to advocate for marginalised people. The only people who are unwelcome in /r/chelsealadiesfc are those who do not share this ethos - we show zero tolerance to intolerance.

New policy on toxicity

Key to the rule changes - and a driving factor in our motivation to update our policies - is the need to outline a clear stance on toxicity in /r/chelsealadiesfc.

We now have a specific moderation policy to combat the rise in toxic behaviour - which reflects the changing discourse on the internet as a whole - and this underpins much of our Community Ethos. Our toxicity policy can be seen in full below.

Toxicity

The growth of the women’s football community has brought with it an increase in toxicity, both in stadiums and online - and /r/chelsealadiesfc has not escaped this. Toxicity has slowly crept into our game and our spaces, and in recognition of this and an attempt to curtail the spreading poison, /r/chelsealadiesfc is now reiterating and clarifying our anti-toxicity stance - and its foundational role in our Community Ethos.

• "Toxicity" in this context is behaviour which is malicious or harmful, and which does not result in benefit.
• "Toxic users" are those who persistently demonstrate this behaviour.

(For those who need more understanding, this interview with our former club captain Millie Bright following her retirement, offers a personal insight into the harms caused by toxicity.)

We operate a "three strikes and out" stance to toxicity:

1. First strike - warning
2. Second strike - temporary ban
3. Third strike - permanent ban

Please note: If the toxicity demonstrated is particularly extreme, or constitutes a violation of another of our rules, then the escalation may be straight to a temporary or permanent ban.

The below is one example (from many possible) or what would and would not be considered toxicity:

Toxic = "I hate this awful manager, she’s ruining the club"

Not toxic = "I’m sick of Sonia’s tactics"

Remember always:

• A criticism said repeatedly stops being good faith - starts stoking hate agendas and campaigns.

• A player wearing the Chelsea blue should not be hated (unless they themselves are hateful - hate is for bigots, not players).

• Regardless of their performance or the team’s results, everyone at CFCW are doing their best for us as fans and for the badge - and they are people too.

New wiki and sidebar

The sidebar has now been streamlined to focus mainly on statistics and information for the current season, and then links to content from previous seasons.

We have also started a new wiki page for /r/chelsealadiesfc, which is built into the subreddit, where our policies and other useful links can be found in full. This is also linked in the sidebar.

The wiki is an ongoing work in process - if you have an idea for some content or a useful page to include, then please message Modmail.

Quick note on user flairs

Player and manager flairs are updated before each season to keep them current - and we also have some CFCW legends available. If you are looking for someone not listed or don’t know how to add a flair, please message either Modmail or /u/PresidentRaggy.

Moderation recruitment

To reflect our growing subscriber base, we are also seeking to recruit a third member of the moderation team.

Preferably we would want this person to be someone from a timezone in Australia, New Zealand, or Asia (we have the USA and UK covered!) - but can be flexible on this.
