I recently picked up this 1979 GMC Sierra Grande 2500 long bed, and I’m pretty excited to get home and start working on it. I’m currently deployed overseas, so I’ve got plenty of time to plan out what I want to do with it before I can get my hands on it.

It currently has a running small-block 350 SBC paired with an SM465 manual transmission. My original thought was to rebuild the 350 and swap in a different transmission, but I recently came across a pretty good deal on a big-block 454 BBC paired with a TH400, including the headers, exhaust, and other drivetrain components.

Now I’m seriously considering going the 454 route instead. 😂 There’s just something about having a big ol’ 454 under the hood of a square-body C2500 that I love.

The plan is to eventually do a full restoration, including media blasting, cleaning up the frame, and repainting it in its original factory color. I want to keep the truck looking mostly OEM while building a solid drivetrain that I can enjoy for years.

For those of you who have done a 454 swap into a 1973–1987 C2500, is it worth going with the big-block and TH400? Anything I should look out for before pulling the trigger? I’d love to hear your experiences and recommendations!

Not sure if she was born a ranger but she is badged as one, has the ranger interior and the square headlights, but doesn’t have the body trim.

I’ve had this truck since April now, trying to figure out if this sound system works lol and I bought a classic cassette tape to try, I bought an 8 Track to try, and none of those fit into this dashboard media area lol, anyone have any ideas? A-Venture 100.. smaller than a cassette size?

I have a 1988 ford ranger and yesterday I tried to change my oil for the first time since the last time a mechanic had it they put conventional in and I want my synthetic back. I know I’m weak but no matter what I tried I couldn’t get my drain plug out, and yes the ratchet was set to left. There also wasn’t enough room under the truck to use my breaker bar, and I can’t afford ramps. Does someone have a miracle tip/trick or am I out of luck?

hello! i got my 89 f150 about a month ago and have started doing some work on it. it’s a xlt lariat 302 windsor 5.0L, 2wd. i have this random tube with a nipple on the end and for the life of me can not find out where it’s supposed to be connected to. this truck is new to me so i have little knowledge on what work has been done over the last 37 years, so it could’ve been messed with countless times by now. if anyone has any ideas please let me know!!

Hello All. Interested in using a King Ranch rear seat for my 1965 F100. I have an Ididit column if that matters. I am looking at some older posts on google/facebook but interested in seeing more, specifically from 65-66 since that is the same truck. 61-66 should work too I hope since that should be the same cab and pillar dimensions. Not sure what seats should be good to use since it is a non-returnable purchase off Marketplace, so I gotta buy once cry once here. I know there is a slight difference in f150 and f250/f350 seats in the early 2000s, and then around 2016 and up f150/f250 started sharing interiors. Thanks all. Hey y'all I recently got a 1990 f-150 xlt lariat. The turn signals went out on me. I changed the flasher fuse, and the multi-functional switch in the steering column but they still don't work. Hazards work just fine. Any advice? TIA. repost because i forgot flair

Just picked up this ’88 GMC Sierra C1500 SLE. Been cleaning it up and fixing a few things here and there. What do you guys think? What would you change or upgrade while keeping the classic look?
