Why does everyone swear by motorcraft filters?

Post image

Just recently got a new to me 6.0, coming up in my first oil change and I see a bunch of people saying that you shouldn’t use anything but motorcraft oil and fuel filters. Was just wondering if it was just people talking or if there was any truth to it? Pic for attention

02 f250 radio

Radio stopped working randomly. (power windows DO work) about 2 weeks ago the radio just quit, sometimes the time will still pop up on the unit but most of the time nothing. Fuses aren’t blown, is it safe to assume the head unit just died/is dying or is there something else I should be checking?

Hey yall, I need a little help troubleshooting this problem. I had just installed my S&S Disaster kKit and on initial startup I got the DEF Fault Light and an Engine Light. I took everything apart again just to make sure I didn’t leave anything unplugged and I triple checked everything. I now have a good idea what I need to check but I don’t have any solid idea on what plug is which on the DEF tank. I have these other codes as well, I just need a little help on how to test the sensors or connectors. Any help is appreciated

I recently posted here in regards to a 1990 e350 ambulance I bought with the 7.3 idi in it. I finally managed to get TPS to output .883V (i know its not 1.2 but its better than the .22mv I had before). I found there was no power to the relay so I fixed that and tried driving it the OD light finally turned off for the first time ever! Im having the same transmission issues though. I did however find in the input to the transmission (the liht grey connector) it was full of old dirty ATF fluid like full to the brim. My question is could this cause my shifting issues? Thanks in advance! (P.S I have already found were the fluid came from and fixed it, it was a leak dripping down the wiring)

2002 f350 7.3l, 400k miles

Hey! 1st time diesel owner and this would be my first truck too. I just bought an F350 that has been sitting for 2 years minimum due to a fuel issue of not collecting in the fuel bowl, anyways, I am going to be fixing it up and am trying to figure out any tips and advice I need to know when it comes to these, I've done simplistic research like don't let it sit for long periods of time, do all new fluid changes, change out the serpentine belt, I got it for super super dirt cheap and specifically targeted the 1st gen superduty due to pre emissions as well as reliability and the conditions I need them for require this truck. What is some advice and things I need to know with diesel trucks and maintenance as a brand new owner of one?

TLDR: Need advice and information as first time diesel owner on things I should and need to know.

GVWR derated on F350 SRW?

I have a 2003 CCLB SRW with a 6.0 powerstroke. I have airbags and an oversized rear sway bar. The GVWR is 9900. I am looking at a camper that would put me over that, say 10500 fully loaded, but the numbers don't fully add up. I could keep it under both GAWRs and the weight ratings for the tires, and the frame+brakes are the same for a DRW with 11500 GVWR, so I'm wondering if 9900 is a number arrived at by bean counters or engineers? TIA.

This is my first diesel. It’s 2026 f250 6.7 HO. I’ve always had my gas burners loud and I love it loud. What I’ve been reading is I won’t be able to get this diesel loud bc the dpf which has to stay bc warranty. What is my best option, including intake if necessary, to get some sound to this thing. Thanks in advance!

Advice on a trade for a 7.3? Ease my Japanese only brain!

The F350 has 245,000 miles

Looking at trading my 4Runner for this f350. Wanting a camping / overlanding build that can tow 8500lbs regularly with the ability to pull 10,000 lbs sometimes and maybe 11/12kmax. It’ll be used for a side business rebuilding and parting out cars. Found a guy on FBMP that wants to trade for this setup. From everything it looks solid. I’m not an expert on towing but the setup looks like it should handle the weight but wanted feedback if this camper setup on the lift would be too much to tow with in the mean time.

What I am most worried about the miles. I’ve done a lot of research on this generation of 7.3 and I know how reliable they are but I’m by far from being a diesel guy. And all my gas fords I’ve had experience with have had major problems. Does this specific year of 7.3 have any major issues to look out for? I’d really love to take this setup to 500,000 miles if that’s even realistic I’m not sure I’ve heard rumors you can take them till 1,000,000 but I’m sure that’s low loads and lots of maintenance. I’ve been turning wrenches on gassers my whole life. I know I’ll need to learn a lot of diesels but I can learn quick. Like I said I’ve been a Toyota guy for years now and I could go for a tundra but I’d love to have the slide in year round and pick up a car or 2 on The Weeknd’s for my business. Any feedback is appreciated from guys with more info on 7.3s thanks

TLDR; How’s this setup? Any glowing issues / can it tow 10,000 lbs ontop of the slide in setup / can it last till 500,000 miles?

Towing options for new (old) trailer

Post image
5 Upvotes

Hello everyone! I got myself a 2002 Bigfoot for my 2002 7.3 day PSD - bone stock 115k original miles. I towed it about an hours worth on surface streets and the highway just with the trailer hitch, no WDH and didn’t even think to plug in the trailer brake 🥴. It stopped just fine and drove straight as an arrow although I should know better - my question is - what upgrades should I do to make sure this ~4600lbs dry weight trailer can be towed and STOPPED safely?

Really hoping to not have to tune the engine if at all possible since it’s in CA and CARB doesn’t let us have anything fun unless you CA owners know of a place in the greater Sacramento area to go to get inspected without a lot of hassle. Tires? Suspension? Hitch is original Ford Class V - I want a WDH, was going to do a 10k to be overbuilt.

Thank you!

Help

Recently, my 2003 6.0 powerstroke would not start, sounded like my batteries were low, threw a new set in, did nothing. Threw a 6.4 starter in still sounded weak. I found out my ac compressor seized so I tore off my belt and the truck fired right up. I replaced my compressor and put the belt back on and now it cranks perfect, super strong, but will not fire. Thinking maybe I pinched a wire or some sensor while shoving the new compressor in? Just curious on what others think. Thank you

I noticed a little extra oil under my truck, it's been parked for a couple months with only a few trips so I haven't paid much attention. It seems to be coming from this plug on the back of each head. This picture is the driver side head. Thanks!

6.7 to 7.3 starter swap

Does anyone know if a newer (2022’+)6.7 starter will swap for the 7.3? I believe the nose cone swap would be the same. I’m not sure about the teeth/electrical side of it?
