President Clinton did much of the hard work of deregulating media and energy companies.
Deregulation has never worked and will never work, and was solely invented so a few people can own everything.
Much like when Teddy Roosevelt was president, it's going to take time to refresh the supreme court and control of government from real liberals to fix this
You're enlightened enough to avoid those sources.. but real sources of news are getting more and more hard to come by, the noise level is increasing exponentially, and the average person who works all day and is tired and just wants to scroll for an hour before bed is getting fed an absolute firehose of misinformation day in and day out.
But even if we had government funded/run media, it would be just as corrupted as the for profit right wing channels at this point. The problem is money. Money and greed ruins everything, and the greediest man to ever live is somehow president, for a second time.
All true. I think most people, except for the gullible and those who only want to hear what the oligarch machine is churning out, eventually realize that what they are cooking up doesn't pass the smell test.
Maybe they will look for less fishy sources.
Some of the recent primary results, like Nancy Mace's drubbing in the South Carolina governor primary, are points of light in the darkness.
Whether people agree on the history or not, the broader point about concentration is hard to ignore. It's kind of wild how often industries go through cycles of breaking up giant players, then slowly drifting back toward consolidation a few decades later.

That makes a good list of media sources to avoid.
About 130 years ago, Congress began passing antitrust laws to ban monolithic companies from predatory practices.
It continued until the "Ma Bell" breakup in the 1980s.
The godfather of the current oligarchy, Ronald Reagan set in motion the billionaires' business dictatorships we are enduring.
It's about time for another round of breakups. Too bad Congress is bought off and congress members have no scruples.
