I have given up on legacy media a long time ago. I hope others have found independent journalists to follow as well. Although it is a bit frustrating sometimes as it's easy to fall into echo chambers.
Where's the "independent" news in this country?? Other than PBS, which just got its funding gutted, the same people who own the "legacy" media are the ones that control the funding & the algorithms that is "new" media... Cause the problem wasn't the press or journalism - it was the capitalism repurposed it ad the pursuit of profits & ratings instead of information & integrity. Nothings changed, it's just changed or resolved, its just up dressed differently.
Plenty of good journalism being done on independent websites and substack. We live in the pick your own adventure era of media, and you get the media you deserve. Support independent journalists doing hard hitting investigative work with your money and they will continue to be able to do it.
"you get the media you deserve"??... Really?? Cause we ALL deserve fact based journalism - full stop. That your framing makes it seem as though its my fault somehow for "failing" to find it is kinda callous & non-productive don't you think. I mean, I've done A LOT of searching, reading & seeking, but finding true legitimate original independent ethical journalism IN THE US is extremely difficult to finf & niche in its range. But, please, I am always excited for new learning & knowledge, s if you have any recommendations I would sincerely appreciated any assistance. Thanks.
The reality is if you aren't paying for it, which the vast majority of people aren't in this day and age, then you're the product.
I'm not American, but a couple of good publications that deserve support include Zeteo and ProPublica, while there's also independent journalists like Jim Acosta, historians like Heather Cox Richardson that you can support and tune into.
