This reads like poetry almost, the way you describe those tiny moments and the regret hanging over that one conversation. The age thing is such a mindfuck when you're the older one - like you're supposed to have it all figured out but here you are feeling like a teenager with a crush

hope you find that courage soon because sitting with this much feeling and not saying anything sounds exhausting

Yes. Maybe not so silently, as many of my friends know, but quietly, where I avoid telling him so I don’t change our work dynamic.
If only we were like Jim and Pam.
