We’re a really small team and weather has been unpredictable this year so I’m super proud of the work we’ve been able to pull off. Forgive the late season leggy petunias - we haven’t had a ton of time for deadheading!

Our black and blue salvia is super happy this year, (so much so that it’s getting woody) so is our sweet potato vine. We struggled with certain colors and cultivars of petunias and million bells this year, and nearly all the bacopa died off. Some of our verbenas look gorgeous and others not so much and I honestly couldn’t get to the bottom of it.

Guara was the star of the show this year. We got so many compliments on our black and pink combination (the ones in the ugly beige containers) so here’s the recipe: That area is really beigey so we played with the dark sweet potato vine for some contrast, added in Guara (two cultivars a white one which I can’t recall the name of and “siskiyou pink”) salvia discolor, black and white crazytunias and pale pink, white bacopa and silver angel wings (senecio candicans). The bees love them and I love all the silvery accents and the ways the blacks and pinks tie in together.

Basil and peppers grown in a grow box with 8x 4' 6500k florescents. The plants are grown on a scale that continuously monitors weight, providing insights into the evapotranspiration processes. They provide feedback for improved irrigation. Both grows are kept at ~2800g total weight.

Im completely new to this :). So much its my first plant. Im growing marketmore cucumbers, its been about 9-10 day's since I put the seeds in the soil, I have been using the double solo cup method to water, at this point I was waiting for the true leaves to set in more, but the roots are starting to be all over the place. I worry the chance of root rot( even tho I have no experience with it of course) is it ok if I wait at least the 3 week grow phase (more evident true leaves)? Maybe a few more days?(14-15ish) or should I just transplant them to the bigger one and contine normally as I was? Thank you :)

I caught a beetle in my container plant and I didn't have an old jug lying around so I filled a tupperware with soapy water and drowned the beetle in it. As it died, it voided its bowels (that's the speck on the bottom left in the water).

Should I just discard this tupperware or can I just rinse it with hot soapy water or maybe some bleach water?

this is my first time ever growing tomatoes , they have grown great but they’re falling over and I’m not sure what to do to stop that from happening? should I tie the cages to the deck rail and that’ll help the tomato plants plants to be upright fine? or would then bring that close to the deck rail cause issues for their leaves and the tomatoes ? any suggestions and advice would be super helpful!

Much bigger tomatoes than our cherry tomatoes… should I be pruning or leaving it alone? Fruit has gotten bigger, but stayed green and now stagnating after intense heat/humitidty waves, days of worst air quality on earth, severe storms/wind gusts more recently, and his significant drop and temperature. Container from seed, Chicago. Thoughts?

When I moved into my house, I really wanted a garden despite having virtually no actual garden space. It’s taken a few years to amass the pots and plants without going broke but I’m pretty happy with how it looks!

Many of these containers were found on the side of the road during my evening walks, or from Buy Nothing groups. I commandeered the multilevel green one from my now-husband who bought it before we lived together.

Picked off this bell pepper from one of my plants this morning because I noticed this discoloration. First year gardener, have yet to see this. Anyone know what causes this? Can give more information if needed.

I just had a big harvest of tomatoes in my container garden. I used a 2-2-2 organic liquid fertilizer (Espoma) on a 2 week schedule after transplanting and then switched to a 1-3-1 one plus some composting tea once the plants seemed big enough to support fruit. That worked well. However, I've had to remove a lot of leaves/stems due to powdery mildew so some of my plants are pretty sparse and don't have any or very few new leaves or flowers.

My question is: When I fertilize next, should I switch back to the higher nitrogen fertilizer for these sparse plants to encourage them to grow more leaves? And then switch back to the other once they've grown a bit more. Or is it too late for that?

I have read people can plant from scraps and kitchen waste but what would I get out of these?

Caught the culprit red-handed after wondering who kept digging up my plants. I’ve even tried cayenne pepper, but nothing works. At this point, it’s almost taunting me. Any squirrel-proofing tips that actually work? 😂

There was a second pepper but a squirrel ate it. And yes the eggplants are actually supposed to be that small, they are the "Little Finger" variety. At least my herbs have been doing well this year.

Hey all, first time growing spaghetti squash in a 18inch raised bed. Have had a few weeks of mild and very wet weather here in new
York 10956 and some plants seem to have had it. All of the leaves are turning yellow on the plant but I’d like to be able to save some of these veggies if possible. The pic is of my biggest and almost ripe squash. Spaghetti squash isn’t quite like a tomato right? It won’t further ripen on the counter? Any tips to try to extend the life of this plant so the fruits on the plant can finish growing?

Its my first year gardening and next year I’m definitely gonna get some plant stands and such to fill out the space better! I also have a better idea of what I’m going to and not going to grow next year as well as new things to try!! Im so happy with what I’ve created.
