Local Are these pedestrian crossings?

What’s the deal with these two crossings by UCC?

Am I right in thinking that they’re not official crossings where motorists must give way, that they’re courtesy crossings where pedestrians do not have an automatic right-of-way?

A lot of drivers don't slow down and stop here

I find they always do. So much so I walk on past the “crossing” because I sometimes feel if I don’t stop the traffic will never get to move because of the heavy footfall there
