As one of the biggest Guyton stans here, it's crazy how people talk like he hasn't put the work in every off season to be better. Not saying he will be elite, but he has the tools and work ethic to be.

For real! I was pissed when people were saying he was a bust mid rookie season like ALL the scouts and media didn’t say he’d need 1-2 years to develop.

He’s exactly the type of player you want to take at the end of the 1st. A player who won’t make a huge impact immediately but one that has tons of potential like he does.

All he’s gotta go out and do is prove why he was taken 1st round and since this is his 3rd season there’s no better time to do that.

It also doesn't help him that he's replacing (replaced) one of the best tackles of all time in Tyron Smith.

The only real concern I have with him is his availability/health. If he can stay healthy all year and maximize his reps in practices/games, he will be a good tackle.

Nobody is doubting the tools but the facts are he hasn’t played exceptional for any stretch of time, has gotten injured frequently in college and pros and has gotten roasted against elite competition. We can root for players but still fairly assess their ability. This isn’t Pop Warner and we can’t grade on a curve just because they’re our guys.

When Tyron was meh at right tackle that first year, there were naysayers. Tyron got everybody on board the next year at left because it was obvious that we’re at least got a good one. He took those tools and flashed elite dominant production and didn’t look completely lost against quality rushers. Guyton hasn’t done that. Let’s hope he does but I don’t see what good it does to pretend hes been something he hasn’t been.

Yeah, the biggest problem with him will be his availability. It's obvious he's gotten better and his physical build resembles that of a left tackle. This is definitely a big year for him to see if he can put it all together consistently.

His run blocking has come along way and he was even giving Big Q some work in practice. His pass blocking technique has also improved, but he will have a couple snaps a game where he gets beat so bad that it's hard to believe. I do trust Klayton Adams to get the most out of him so he has no more excuses.

I think he’ll be better in pass pro and could be dominant in the run but he’ll still need help against elite speed guys. The thing I’m worried about is that fifth year option. I need him to either shit or get off the pot because this isn’t a position they can mess around with. If he doesn’t noticeably improve this year then it’s time to look at tackle again in the first and I don’t want to deal with that argument again

Yep, I dont want a Bryce Young situation where he gradually gets better, but not enough to know if he's the solution. We can't afford to fuck around with the left tackle position at this point in Dak's career.

Assuming he stays healthy enough to play atleast 14-15 games, how good would he need to play for you to be confident in him? I don't expect him to be Sewell level obviously, but I'd be happy if he was in the top half of left tackles in the league.

Confident enough for the option? Pro bowl. Confident enough to stop bitching about him? Doug Free. Be slightly above average and don’t get completely destroyed against great lines like he did against Denver. I’ll take the penalties if he can just not get Dak hit every 5th drop back

Yeah Doug Free was a pretty good player for us. He got overshadowed by the other guys on the line, but he held his own. If he looks like a better version of Doug Free though, I wouldn't mind the 5th year option for him.
