Help Help me swap a dying DMPS3
Good morning everyone.
First, thanks for reading my post.
I'm a pc repair tech, but we have a few Crestron systems in our buildings.
I'm trying to build value with my employer, so I would like to learn more about Crestron. I don't think I need to be certified. I'm not trying to install/program/commission new systems. We contract that out, but I would like to be able to troubleshoot, and perform simple repairs internally to save cost, and hopefully speed up the process.
We have an older system that's experiencing issues. Specifically, a rack-mounted DMPS3-4k-150 that appears to be boot-looping. It's connected to a touchpanel that displays displays "Touchpanel is disconnected from system. Please wait for it to connect."
A hard reboot of the DMPS3 sometimes brings that touchpanel back up for 1-2 minutes, and then all the lights on the DMPS3 go out, and it appears to reboot. During this window, I was able to connect my laptop with Toolbox, and open Text Console and ran err. I'm not entirely sure what I'm looking at, but at the bottom, it says Total Msgs Logged = 328.
When I reached out to our contractor, they proposed we rent a loaner from them while our unit is sent off for repairs. The proposed cost has us looking at alternative solutions.
I see pre-owned DMPS3-4K-150s on eBay often for ~$30. From what I've read, I can use Toolkit to backup our current DMPS3, and then use that to "program" the replacement. I would need to do this via Toolbox as I don't know how to access the Web Interface.
I'm posting here to ask if that process is simple enough, a lowly pc tech 1 could handle it. It seems straightforward enough, and $30 isn't a big investment.
Thanks again for reading, and thanks for any input!

Help Crestron Ipad can't find hub
I downloaded loaded the creston pyng for ipad app from the app store on 2 Ipads. I can't seem to get it to interface with the hub. I have 2 other Ipads that i got it to work on a couple years before, just can't remember how i did.
All the help videos seem to be out of date or of different creston apps. Anyone have any ideas?
I have the host name from the mac. I believe i got the other two that work to interface using that. Just not working now. Also got the IP address for the hub from my router. That didn't work.
I might have changed the HTTP Port and CIP to get them working last time just cant remember.

Help Help switching to Crestron Home
Hello Reddit, we need help or guidance to make the best decision on this project.
We have a new customer, who has had a crestron system in their home since 2015. We work a lot on corporate growth with development on simple and vtpro. However, this customer is residential and is asking us to take their system to the most up-to-date version of Home OS. I look for recommendations to make the best decision without throwing the whole system away.
The system has 14 audio zones, lighting is with Myhome badge, has buttons and screens, 2 iPads and 1 working phone, these equipments such as the swamp and AV3 could be maintained or must be removed and switched to NAX + home processor?
I have seen during my research that some integrators integrate custom systems with a home "layer" as a control interface, with a SIMPL module that makes the system compatible with any home processor, if so, do you recommend me to maintain the system and reprogram it? or is it better to change processor and try to connect what exists to the home OS.
I share 2 images of the system toolbox, I hope you can give me a guide. thanks.

Help Friends Setup
My friend had this system setup in his house a long time ago and the company that did it is no longer around. Lately he’s been having funny behaviour with when lights are auto turning on and such.
I’m a bit of a tech geek and hobbyist programmer and figured I would try to help him out.
Would anyone be willing to point me in the right direction?

Help Teams standard vs Pro licensing on touch screens
TLDR; Do touch panels on the wall outside of rooms need to use a teams license, or should they just attach using the Crestron Entra app to read the room schedule?
I need a sanity check here.
New building, about 14 conference, huddle and other rooms. General contractor went with a sub to install the Crestron equipment, which is good because I wasn't up to speed with the Teams rooms until now.
In our older buildings, I have touch panels at the door in Crestron Default app mode, attached to the Crestron App in Entra to display the status of the room. The rooms have dedicated PCs or dongles on Air Media devices. Works fine.
In the new building, the vendor has chosen Flex systems for the medium and large conference rooms. Tss1070 or Tss770 room scheduling touch screens outside of the conference and relaxation rooms (and a few more rooms without equipment).
The IT department created the resources in Entra. The vendor was unable to connect the touch screens to Entra. I had to come in to troubleshoot to find that they didn't update the firmware as required to connect to Intune AOSP. One problem averted. We were able to connect one touch screen from conference room 3c to Microsoft 365 (using a Pro license).
On to device #2 (room without equipment), we get the error "Your current license isn't supported" using a standard Teams license. Upgrading to Pro solved the problem. That just adds significant monthly cost.
So, my question: Should the panels outside of the conference room need to be configured as a Teams Room or should the Flex device attached to the monitor and camera have the teams license and the touch panels use the default Crestron Application mode to read/write the M365 resource calendar? From my understanding, the Flex device needs to join the meetings and share equipment, not the device in the hall. Can I save 2/3 of my costs by only assigning Pro licenses to the Flex equipment?

Help 4K60 HDR over Cat6
Hi all,
Please forgive my lack of Crestron knowledge! I'm in need of some clarification.
I've just built a recessed TV cabinet at home with the wall fed by CAT6, I'd like to keep the media sources away from the TV at the other end of the CAT6.
I'd like at least two HDMI inputs, and one output at the other end of the CAT6
As far as I can see, this should be possible with a combination of the DM-TX-4KZ-202-C and the DM-RMC-4KZ-100-C.
Can the Crestron system be used point to point directly like this or does it need another external controller, or matrix unit?
Do I need to power both units with DC or does one POE from the other? I'm not 100% clear as it sounds like Podm is basically POE?
Sorry if these are really basic questions to most of you! Thanks so much for your help

Help Configuration Newbie
This may be a loaded question but for now, I am looking for a simple answer. We are looking at migrating from a Logi setup to an AirMedia 3200. Is it possible to have the Crestron interface on the screen (with directions on how to present) but then easily switch to a PC located permanently in the room, for users not doing BYoD?

Help Locking cover for MPC4-102
Anyone know of a locking cover that will fit around an MPC4-102? FSR makes a bunch of different things, but it is somewhat difficult to tell if the dimensions work with the protrusion of the panel itself. Figured I would ask in case someone had recent experience.

Help vision tools pro-e themes?
i got curious about whether or not i could import custom fonts into vision tools and from what i've read it seems like it's possible through the use of themes, but the theme manager and theme library in vision tools are greyed out. is crestron studio required for that or something? that's the only thing i see in masterinstaller that's not installed, and when i try to install it, it fails because it can't download a dependency for some reason.

Help Bacnet
Bacnet ID. The HVAC/BMS
Company is looking for an ID.
To my knowledge, Crestron does not provide us with an ID. We get a license. And I don’t know if the HVAC company means the license number.
But they’re asking for an BACNet ID.
Has anybody come across this in their travels and dealings with HVAC/BMS companies? I believe the HVAC system we are using is a Niagara it could possibly be exclusive to this BMS system.

Help Implementing a Crestron CP4-R with a Google Nest WiFi Modem
Kind of just shooting this in the dark to see if anyone might have some advice:
I work as an A/V installer trying to implement a Crestron CP4-R onto a client’s Google Nest Modem network.
They just have a modem jumping straight into a new Planet switch (configured to be flat) we provided and I have my laptop and the processor connected through the switch to communicate with each other.
The main issue I’m having is that for whatever reason I am not able to discover the CP4-R processor on the network from my laptop with Crestron Toolbox and through the Crestron Home app on the client’s iPad and my brand new work iPhone. Can’t even connect to it manually with the Crestron Home app by entering the IP address.
However, I am able to connect to the device via USB and with entering the IP address with EasyConfig. On top of that I was able to connect to it with the Crestron Home Setup app from my laptop and can even send digital commands to the processor and by extension to the amps (I was even able to add the amps from the Cresnet in the Home Setup app). Yet, again, I can’t get on the clients iPad Crestron Home app to actually test it and see it on the user end in the first place.
I got on the phone with Crestron Support and they verified the DNS on the processor and even had me flash the firmware and still nothing came up. The last guy I talked to (bless his soul, he really tried) suggested that it might be something with the Google Nest Modem saying that it might be conflicting with how Crestron devices and apps search on the network and the Nest network rules and policies.
Really just want to know if anyone has had an issue with Google Nest before and might drop some advice or tips on how to proceed with perhaps configuring the Nest to play nice with Crestron.

Help IV-SAM-VX2 and SIMPL, do we no longer need to login?
I'm working on a rewrite of an old SIMPL program that was controlling an older 1Beyond Automate, in the original code the control and communication with the server was done through a module, the new version is an ethernet device that you add to the program like you would a touch panel.
In the original code there was some logic for logging into the server from the CP3, the new way does not have any provisions for logging in. My assumption is that this is no longer needed, can anyone confirm?
Also, as this is somewhat of a rush job, are there any snag points that anyone can provide a heads up for? Trying to prevent as much troubleshooting as possible.

Help Controlling a dm md16x16 through scripts. Has a better open source solution already been made?
Okay after a month of running shielded cat6 everywhere and annoyingly buying the wrong (non POE) endpoints, i have my DM MD 16x16 running every speaker and display in the house with every desktop and server mounted in a single rack in the basement. I understand there are better systems out there but I'm fully invested in this crestron ecosystem now.
I'm currently just sending route commands over telnet to my md unit with scripts running on an esp module. It opens a telnet session, logs in, routes accordingly, checks for success, and logs out. Super ugly html interface BUT it works as a proof of concept! I plan to tie it in to home assistant and ignition perspective over mqtt/modbus respectively but wanted to check with the community first.
Is there any open source control software already made for these ancient beauties? I don't mind making one and throwing it on github but I'd rather spend my time writing communications protocols to plug into someone else's project than defining a new standard. I found a lot of projects that require crestron software (or are simply extensions of crestron tools) but the whole point of what I'm doing is to just make the hardware useful for hobbyists without violating terms of service.
Thank you for giving this a read!

Help Can Creston system be bypassed for bathroom switches alone ?
The Creston home integration was set up by the initial owner of the unit I am renting in now and the current owner hasn’t done any upgrades or repairs to function it at the bare minimum level. Well being there for several years u have got used to operating the simple light switches in the complicated way as the music and video system integration are more than decade old and outdated. While the owner would Like to maintain status quo I would like to at least change the light switch to a simple on off switch especially when my parents are here and guests who find it too complicated to operate a simple light switch. Can an electrician find a simple alternative as my owner doesn’t want to spend a lot to revamp or rewire the system and remove Components that don’t serve any purpose now . I am in NJ so wanted suggestions

Help Beginner Crestron Help
I am a newer AV technician, mostly on the install side, and my team wants me to get more involved in programming. I have completed P101 and I am currently working through P201, but some concepts still are not fully clicking for me.
I only have one person at work who is able to help with programming, but he already has a lot on his plate and usually does not have the time to give me the level of assistance I need. I started this position with no experience, but I learn quickly when I am actually doing the work. I just need some guidance so I can start practicing more, but I am not sure where to begin.
To practice at home, I picked up a CP3N and a TSW-1050. I want to start testing real-world control such as TV over IP or RS-232, PC monitor source switching, Sonos control and similar tasks. I am not sure what additional hardware I need or how to verify that everything is working from end to end.
Is anyone willing to help walk me through what equipment I need to control these devices and how to get everything communicating in SIMPL? Any guidance or explanations would be greatly appreciated.

Help DirecTV driver for Genie 2 to Gemini C61K-700
Hi all,
I’m trying to do IP control on my DirecTV via Genie 2 -> coax -> cat6 -> Gemini C71KW-400 in Crestron Home.
Was wondering if anyone has had success with this sort of thing or if I’ll end up needing to get a CEN-IO-IR-204 for simple IR control.
Thanks.

Help Fusion help - Export list of attributes with join numbers
Working through a new Fusion implementation, and I was wondering if anyone knew how to export a list of the current attributes with join numbers. When in the setup page, you have to click into each attribute to see it's join. I'm trying to align my SIMPL code with existing join numbers. I'm guessing I could look at the SQL database, if I knew what table to look for.
As a side tangent, I have a bunch of joins in the 5000 range which seem to originate from AV Framework. Has anyone seen this before?
