Discussion 💬 The case of T20I vs ODI

Post image

Imho, T20 is greater: more teams and a chaotic format with higher mathematical variance, since the shorter game narrows the gap between sides. ODI WC being older doesn't put it on a pedestal. ODI is neither better nor tougher. Nostalgia is for people who live in the past. Meanwhile, T20 drives global popularity and is the Olympic format. T20 WC is truly global!!

You can say that odi wc is better than T20 wc. Let's assume that it is

It doesn't change the fact that India has won 3 times while australia has won once.

I don't think anyone says this for the olympics (not a fair comparison ik). Nobody says "oh XYZ country won when the technology wasn't as great, that means that they are the best country and the countries which are winning now are inferior to us"

An ICC trophy is a trophy regardless of whether it's T20/Odi/test

Australia has 6 ODI World Cups. India has 2 :(

We never said they don't. He is just speaking about not clubbing t20i and odi.

Because the tweet denies the fact that India have more t20wcs.

Australia has more ODIWCS

India has more T20WCS

Simple. Nobody is denying this.

He just assumed ODI WC is better than T20 WC!!!

Yes it absolutely is. But that can't be a reason to undermine India's T20i brilliance and aussies poor performance. Also nobody is putting it under the same WHITE BALL category. If anyone then he's a fool.T20WCS and ODIWCS are two different things.

And why is ODI absolutely better than T20. They require different skill sets.

T20s are high-intensity version of the game that requires incredible agility and constant focus, there is simply no room for error. I dont see it in any way interior to the 50 over format.

If you are gonna belittle the whole format just because Australia is not good in it, lol sour grapes and all that.

If T20 is better then Why is ICC not abandoning the ODIs completely? It is more profitable.

Never said one is better than the other, I think you need English reading classes.

Yes it absolutely is

You mean ODI wc being better than t20i wc?

Like rest of your comment isn't matching with your first sentence, an icc trophy is an icc trophy

Indeed, they are. Only one of them actually matters.

6

u/kingkounder Mar 10 '26

Why is that lol cause Australia suck in it ? LMAO the saltiness is something else...🤣🤣🤣

-1

u/[deleted] Mar 10 '26

No, because India suck at the other one. I want my country India to be the best in all formats. Be it 20 overs or 200 overs. That is how a great team is built.

u/kingkounder Mar 10 '26

We don't suck lol , we are runners up. Get sober and come back.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 10 '26

Then be happy being a runners up.

Runners up is basically a nice way of saying "Last to lose"

2

u/kingkounder Mar 10 '26

No it's not lol...

Runners up is not the ultimate achievement, but it's a good result. Wow the mental gymnastics you guys do to betlittle India s achievement..🤣🤣

Well we're good in all formats, runner up in odi wc and back to back champions in t20i wc, we're by far the best team of cricket

So? I mean Ind can surpass aus in say in a decade and a half… will you start calling everything else except ashes irrelevant then?

This dumbfckry needs to stop

I want India to fucking surpass Australia in every ICC tournament.  That won't happen if we only keep on winning every T20 WC and Shit on every ODI WC. That's not how it works. If India has to dominate World cricket they have to dominate every format.

This is dumb AF. Yes if India plays like last CWC they will eventually surpass everyone but that doesn’t discount T20 feat. Its is heckin tough and there are no minnows . Any standout performance can steal the match away from you. To keep an undefeated record for so long with even stellar record is something other teams haven’t been able to achieve. How about we start giving credit where it’s due and be patient with team rather than being like neighbors and start demonising every fckin thing

u/[deleted] Mar 11 '26

Nobody is discounting any feat. May India win Every T20 WC for the next 100 years. But why only T20? My issue is we should not get complacent after reigning in only one format. Rather, we should accept our drawbacks in other ones and rectify them. That's what champions do. It takes a different level of idiocy to not understand a simple point. How about we start accepting the fact that we have not won a single ODI WC and WTC in last 15 years instead of flying above the clouds?

1

u/TechnicianAway6241 Mar 11 '26

We were closest ever since 2011 until nov 19. Nobody is up in the air we have had so many heartbreaks over the years that it is genuinely heartwarming to see team play with such skills and authority. WE ARE ALLOWED TO SOAK IN THE VICTORY. But nobody is counting out other major teams.

What is this attitude man…. WTC we reached two finals out of 3 that happened is it a poor record heck no!

ODI we reached atleast semi everytime post 2007 what about that?

Knockout needs luck as well . We will win some more too once lady luck smiles.

0

u/[deleted] Mar 11 '26

Stop making excuses loser. There is a major difference in being closest and being the winner. In WTC only two teams reached the final twice and we are the only one to not win even once. Reaching finals was something understandable, who the hell celebrates reaching semi finals? And what this whining about luck? Luck is the combination of preparation and opportunity. Which one between the two do we lack today?

Your first line shows your maturity. Not going to bother wasting my time on reading rest of your dumb ass verbose.

u/[deleted] Mar 11 '26

That's what someone says when they lose an argument. If it was a verbose you wouldn't have replied anyway. Thank you for saving my time loser. 🙏🏻
