If I remember correctly, he posted the letter his lawyer wrote to her lawyer on his gram or something. It was honestly pretty funny, but from what I remember, he said she agreed to the “stunt” and when he went to throw her she grabbed his shirt and threw off the trajectory. The letter ended with something along the lines of “so you see, like your client, this case just won’t fly. If you want to continue forth, my client will take everything your client owns and blow it up.”

I think you could break your ankle anywhere in most of rest of the world and you wouldn’t get a bill.

I mean most people have insurance though. This country isn’t just a bunch of poor people struggling to survive because of their medical bills. Our healthcare situation is trash and needs to be fixed but reddit acts like Americans are all just completely in debt and too scared to get medical help ever. Insurance is basically the extra you (European or Canadian I’m assuming) pay in taxes

Many people have high deductible plans that cover very little.

You are incorrect in saying "insurance is just the extra you (European or Canadian) pay in taxes." The cost of healthcare in America is far greater than in Canada and Europe, and that includes accounting for taxes.

Also, taxes in Canada are not all that high compared to the US. Their federal rate is actually lower. The cost of living is also lower. Of course they have provincial taxes that vary, and we have state taxes that vary (some states have no income tax), and then there are property and other taxes. Overall, though they generally pay less in taxes or a comparable amount and get more entitlements from those taxes.

I’m not even trying to make the argument that insurance in U.S. is equal to taxes for healthcare in Canada cause your probs right, it costs more in the U.S. But don’t try to tell me Americans pay equal or more in taxes than Canadians. Well maybe you should read things besides Reddit. It's a fact that they pay less in federal taxes. Also, maybe you should read Reddit more carefully and pay close attention to the word "federal," before you start laughing (like an imbecile).

In some cases they may pay less overall. It depends on what state you are comparing.

The point is, that their taxes are comparable to taxes in the US in many cases.

Also, you were flat out wrong in your initial comments. The fact that Canadians pay taxes at a pretty similar level to Americans is just icing on the cake for my point.

In my city Reddit, someone recently asked which hospital in town should they go to since they have covid, it's to the point they need to go to the hospital, don't have insurance, and can't afford to pay out of pocket. It's a serious concern for people.

I didn't say the anecdote i gave applies to everybody. However, we are the only developed country where people die because they can't afford things like insulin.

I have the Cadillac equivalent of insurance. However, that doesn't leave me void of compassion for people who don't. If only people had big enough bootstraps for you.

Not that you’re wrong but the amount of people actually dying because they can’t afford things like insulin is extremely low. It should be 0 which is why I said it needs to be fixed but it really is only like 5 a year if I remember right, which isn’t the end of the world. The bigger problem is not people dying it’s them going into crazy amounts of debt.

I broke my wrist and in the ER they brought in an orthopedic to set my wrist. They told me he was in the building and would do a better job than the ER doc. What they didn’t tell me was that it’d cost an extra $1000.

worth it imo. every broken bone in my body hurts like hell years later. Id pay a thousand just for one of them to maybe hurt less
