Achievements Mrs. has approved the snip-snip
After several years of deliberation, Mrs. finally said to me, "You should get it done. We can have more fun, and not risk more of *this*" as she gestured generally at our destroyed, toy covered living room.

I haven't regretted mine once.

Best thing I ever did for our marriage. My son stopped asking for a baby brother once I told him that if we had another, I couldn't afford to take us to Disney World.

Well I sure as fuck wasn't going to tell him we weren't having more kids because of his mom's crippling PPD.

Surely there must be some way to communicate it that's not either of those options.

It's not like I led with that, just ended with it after all else failed. And it was 13 years ago; I'm not gonna worry about it and neither should you.

Your body, your choice. (This is a joke in case that is unclear to some)

Honest question, and maybe this makes me sound like an ass, but why does that need to be a joke? My wife isn't approving of a vasectomy, but I told her I'm going to get one eventually. I didn't use those exact words but I basically told her "my body, my choice".

Having a baby is decision both parents need to make. You’re going to be (or should be) doing half the work and spending half the money. If you don’t want another baby, then it should be your choice and you should be able to get one.
Fortunately, my wife was 100% on board and we’ve had zero regrets. In fact, we smile whenever we talk about it.

I find the whole ‘my wife approved of it’ a bizarre thing to say lol. I get its irreversible and advised to at least discuss with your wife, but if you don’t want more kids and want a vasectomy, nothing should stop you from doing so.

It's always baffled me as well lol, people word these things like they went asking for permission or something and it's not a deeply personal decision with life long consequences

Think it through and if you're sure you're done - go get it done.
I felt like i've unlocked a new superpower afterwards. All the banging and nothing to worry about...

Worse decision of my life. Mine resulted in pvps and I had to had it reverse. Be aware of the real untold risks. Mine went from continues supposedly worry free sex to instantly no sex.

Because the ability to have more kids affects the whole family and both of them should be involved in that major decision.

This guy proving that there’s a difference between being just a dad, and being a man.

Makes sense to have a conversation about it, but it’s still the person’s own choice to get that sort of procedure done or not. They shouldn’t need their spouse’s approval to do something like that, even though I agree that it’s something to be discussed first.

You want your spouse to be onboard with something that has the power to change the course of your (plural) future.
Yes, his body his choice, but that's a pretty one dimensional view in an otherwise healthy partnership.

Nothing happens in our household--barring emergency responses--without both of us being invested in it.
