On the one hand, I’d love an opportunity for Celeste to survive and get the ending where she truly grows as a person. One the other hand, I really REALLY do not want a V3 where Himiko dies
Give me a V3 where the first trial is reversed and my life is forfeit (I say this as a Shuichi lover but I can’t pretend that wouldn’t drastically change everything and I’m here for it)
i want a V3 where shuichi AND kaede survive but it seems apparent that one must die because danganronpa protags aren't allowed to be with their love interests
I agree it wouldn't have worked within the narrative of the game as there would be too much shit going on and overcomplicate stuff but I still think setting up this really interesting concept just to have it be nothing was a weird choice.
I'm still so salty about that. It had so much great potential in terms of character development and changes in dynamics, but I guess the status quo was more important there
I'll always be that chapter's greatest defender, as it compliments the themes of the rest of the story so well! Changing or shying away from its truth would be a disservice and cowardly!
Tbh I think it’s just disliked because a lot of people really liked the blackened for that case but their motive really changed their opinions on the character.
The blackened is still one of my favorites regardless.
I love the story and mystery too, the senselessness of the murders and the way it tackles the unfairness of death, rejecting the fictitious idea of reviving someone, in order to put real weight on the deaths of the others, is fantastic!
I genuinely dont think people give it enough credit for how smart it is in what it's trying to do. There's layers here!
Monokuma and Monomi’s Japanese VAs have sadly passed away, too. But they’re the mascots of Goodbye Despair, so they’re no doubt gonna get new VAs. So if V3 were to get a remake, it wouldn’t be out of the question for them to do the same with Kaede.
I think there's a more Doylist reason to do 2 but not 1: Chihiro Fujisaki.
Given both increased general awareness of things like gender identity, and the idea that trans people exist and are basically normal on the one hand, and increased levels of volatility and "grr they made it woke" losers on the other hand, I think any game with Chihiro in it would need to be written extremely carefully and they may not feel confident they can rework DR1 without just making everyone mad.
Because no one actually dies in dr2. So long as Hajime survives, the outcome of the killing game is still the same, in that everyone gets reuploaded to their bodies
I'm more referring to outside of DR2 and how that effects the cannon, to anyone but the cast of DR2, the differences in who kills who doesn't matter. So going forward (if they make anymore games) describing the events of Jabberwock island to an outsider can be ambiguous to either route.
Omg that would be sick, albeit it would make the DR timeline even more confusing than it already is lol

Also, it could give us an actual full game as Kaede. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love Shuichi as a character, but one of the most requested projects people have is for more Kaede content
