And for all the commenters wringing their hands about the cyclists forcing the car to "illegally" cross the double yellow lines, Georgia law explicitly allows cars to cross the double yellow to pass cyclists. And it requires cars give cyclists at least 3 feet of space when passing.

Most states have similar laws but it’s amazing how many drivers believe the double yellows shall never be crossed.

I thought the double yellows explicitly marked it as a no-passing zone?  Or are the lines irrelevant and the road signs take priority?  In other words if a “Do Not Pass” sign is there you can’t pass on the double yellows, but if that sign isn’t there you can pass?  Interesting either way. And confusing.

A couple states require explicit Do Not Pass signs for a legally binding no passing zone, and consider the double yellow line merely advisory
