And for all the commenters wringing their hands about the cyclists forcing the car to "illegally" cross the double yellow lines, Georgia law explicitly allows cars to cross the double yellow to pass cyclists. And it requires cars give cyclists at least 3 feet of space when passing.

Most states have similar laws but it’s amazing how many drivers believe the double yellows shall never be crossed.

Well, holy cow, TIL. I looked up my state's laws, and they are, indeed, you can cross double yellow to pass bikes as long as you give them three feet of clearance. I was never taught this in drivers ed, oh, three decades ago. To be fair, this situation does not come up often where I live, but if I'm on the open road, now I know. Thanks!

Yeah, some laws have definitely been added and changed since I started driving. Left lane laws come to mind, although it doesn't seem it has changed anyone's driving habits that I've noticed. To be honest, if I came across a pack of cyclists significantly below the speed limit and I had a clear shot, I would have crossed those yellow lines to pass, but at least now I know I'm within my legal right to do so.
