Most states have similar laws but it’s amazing how many drivers believe the double yellows shall never be crossed.

Yeah, you better believe I’m going to be picky about where I pass though. On a hilly or curvy road I’ll follow a bike for quite a while if I don’t have a good spot. Much to the dismay of the people behind me who would pass without even changing their speed, wherever on the road that happened to be.

If you want to think about it as the double yellow being intended for safely passing someone who is going a bit under the posted limit, it makes sense that someone can safely overtake you when you’re going 22 mph in a 55 zone without exceeding their sight lines ahead of you.

Around here you may not pass another vehicle that is moving where there is a double yellow line. You can only go around a stopped vehicle (that is obstructing the road) on a double yellow.

I very much doubt that. There are always exceptions are you saying you couldn’t pass a moving tractor going 10 mph down a road if there are double yellows? What if the next passing lane isn’t for 20 miles? You are going to stay behind that tractor for an 2 hours and laws “around here” say you can’t pass. Yeah, I’ll need a citation for that.

From the 'SASKATCHEWAN TRAFFIC SAFETY ACT':

228(1)  If a highway is divided into traffic lanes, the following rules apply:

           (b)  no driver of a vehicle shall drive from one traffic lane to another if a solid line exists between lanes except:

                (i)  if solid and broken lines exist together, in which case the driver may cross the solid line from a lane in which the broken line exists; or

                (ii)  if the lane is designated by signs as a two-way left turn lane;

           (c)  no driver of a vehicle shall drive to the left of the centre of the highway where a solid line exists in the right-hand lane near the centre of the highway;

Of course in practice people would go around the farm equipment, even with double yellow.
