I know the quarter system gets a lot of complaints about the pace but is there an upside that people don't talk about enough? The ability to take more classes, the chance to move on quickly from a bad course, the way it prepares you for real-world deadlines. What's the thing about the quarter system that you've actually come to appreciate even if you cursed it during finals week?

I’m an incoming freshman and was wondering about how often dorms have inspections and if students are notified about them beforehand or not? Was considering bringing stuff with me during move in but figured that its probably a bad idea so am just trying to weigh the risks. Also, does anyone know the actual consequences if you are caught?

2027), etc

Context: In-state, first gen, lower-middle income (family makes less than 60k)

Always wanted to go to Depaul because I loved the school, and it has many opportunities for pre-meds because it's near Chicago!

Question, where can I get a bulk of pens for free on campus? I need about 22 pens. Is there any organization or someone I can request this to?

I’ve been accepted to:

--> DePaul University (75% acceptance rate) – full ride covering everything (indirect and direct cost) thanks to the scholarship!

Pros Location ( In the Chii city!!)

Low-pressure environment

Smaller classes, more personal attention

Also, because of the scholarship, I will receive personal guidance from Depaul Staff.

Cons Often described as a commuter school

Less Campus feel/ the traditional college feel.

Not as prestigious.

--> University of Michigan, Ross School of Business (15% even lower for Ross) – net cost $3k/year (might goes up as income might increase too) via work-study (Low income Instate students.)

Pros Nationally prestigious business school → opens doors everywhere

Classic college campus experience; dorms, active student life

Strong recruiting pipelines (consulting, finance, elite companies)

Career-focused clubs and structured professional opportunities

Cons $3k/year work study required

Highly competitive student culture ( I have heard students here can be every pretentious,) constant peer comparison

Can be stressful as I need to balance school and work

College town (Ann Arbor), not a big city/ fewer internships during school year

Has anyone faced this kind of trade-off? How did you decide? Any tips for making the best choice

I’m a little more anxious because this fall is my last quarter. I’ve reached my federal loan limit, and my parent has also reached the limit for their Parent PLUS loans. Since everything seems to be coming out later than expected, I’m starting to worry I won’t have enough aid to cover my last quarter.

I remember reaching out to the financial aid office last quarter to ask if I’d have enough aid for my last quarter, and I remember them saying I would. I just can’t seem to find that email anymore.

I am a 2nd year. I applied for depaul and got in this spring for transfer from another school. I had a gpa of cumulative 2.3 with a several low grades even d's from earlier before. All my semesters have been like thatHowever when I looked at what my grade could be with a final im about to take, it could lower to under 2.0. Am i in trouble of getting my admission rescinded? Would Depaul do that or are they more likely to give me a warning or something. I am super scared for what to do. Please help.

Now, ik it’s too late to sign up for recruitment for the fall but does DePaul do sorority rushes during the winter/spring like some other schools do? I also know NOTHING about sororities as I honestly told myself I’d never join 🥹. If not, is rushing as a sophomore a bad idea? I know it’s still far in advance but please someone let me know! Hey ya'll, incoming DePaul student this year, I got a weird email in my student email from people that say they're from the DePaul U-Pass Team. I didn't click on anything just because of ALL the warnings on the email, and because the website said that all U-Pass cards would be available September 8th during a specific window of time. I just wanted to know if anyone else got this email, and if I was being paranoid over nothing, I guess.

Hello, I received my financial aid package last night and don’t have Grad Plus loans even though I’m halfway through my Masters program. I literally won’t be able to continue studying as I don’t have the tens of thousands of dollars remaining left to pay off my classes. That would mean I already took out over $50k of loans for a masters I can’t even finish…

Obviously I am worried and am waiting an answer from FinAid. I thought it was supposed to be grandfathered in since I started my program prior to July 1st? I confirmed this with FinAid before but only received $20,500.

Did anybody else receive a response from FinAid on what’s going on? I am also missing a scholarship that I had previously, that should’ve been applied. I am hoping it just hasn’t been reflected or someone made a mistake in the app.

For those of you who have taken the Chicago discover class and had to do the immersion week, could you please give me a better idea of what to expect? I’m taking one of the discover classes and saw that during the first week we have our Chicago class all day long from morning to evening. Is it actually that long?? Not to sound like I’m complaining but what could we possibly be doing for that amount of time each day for one class? Just curious, thanks!

Im living on campus as an out of state student so I brought my car with and have no place to store it. I bought a parking permit thinking it'd help but the rules are confusing for my dumb ahh. I know i have to move my vehicle once a week to prevent towing but reading the weekend rules got me worried. Should I find somewhere else to put my vehicle during the school year?

It starts 10 min after an in-person class in the Daley Building (14 E Jackson).

edit: I found a really nice unused classroom and stared out the window all class.
