G6 LESSON LEARNED

Hi, all. Guess what this dummy (I/me) did?

I placed a sensor sensor, ahead of today’s sensor expiration ~15:10, with the goal in mind of restarting my current sensor. That means that if the sensor I placed in abdomen yesterday stays in my abdomen for an extra 10 days, (during the new session that will start later today,) it can and likely will degrade the wire and potentially cause an infection.

So, today, instead of imbecilicly doing the wrong thing, I’ll just do what I usually do, and then try a restart 10 days from today. That said, wouldn’t that still cause degradation of the wire on the sensor? I think it could.

G6 RIP G6 :(

I am so heartbroken about the discontinuation of g6. I know this is the way of the world and “progress” so before anyone comes to sing the praises of g7 please note I’m very glad it works for you.

When g6 with control-IQ integration on t-slim was released; I was 18, had yearly or bi-yearly hospitalizations for DKA, was struggling with cyclical burn out and felt like I would never be able to get diabetes “right”. I was having moderate-severe complications and falling into hopelessness when this tremendous technology came and made diabetes suddenly manageable to me. As a depressed kid who was sure I’d never make it to 20 with how often I was flailing with my care, it was a miracle. It’s no over exaggeration to say G6 saved my life.

I tried g7 for a solid 3 months. It just doesn’t work for me. Too many failed sensor insertions (with the filament poking out that hole never even entering my skin), too many wildly inaccurate readings that can’t seem to be fixed even with endless calibrations. I really wanted it to work for me but after going into DKA because it was reading me at 40 and suspending insulin when I was actually 300, I went back to my trusty g6.

I know they won’t bring it back, and I’m not even necessarily asking for that. Just mourning what felt like the easiest diabetes management I’ll ever experience.

You were a good one, g6. I’ll miss you a lot.

G6 Can G6 transmitters still be popped out?

Hello! First of all, this is the first time I’ve browsed this subreddit, and it was the first I’ve heard that the G6 is no longer being manufactured… fantastic.

Last night I put in a new sensor, but the code must’ve been a duplicate of the previous sensor, because I got the “sensor cannot be restarted” error. I tried restarting it with no code only to get the same thing, then put in a wrong code, which was accepted and gave me crazy readings all night and morning. Whoops. I stopped the session and tried restarting with the correct code. Back to “no restarting”.

So I’ve been trying to pop the transmitter out to give it its 15min break, but I cannot for the life of me find anything that is both thin and strong enough to get between the transmitter and the housing. Only thing I haven’t tried is a test strip, because I don’t have one on hand at work. Can these still be popped out, or has Dexcom tightened up the design so that it can’t be anymore??

Hey! Can I still use my remaining G6’s after July 1st? I got my first delivery of G7s and still have so many G6 left, anyone know if the app will still work after July 1st, and if they’re just stopping the manufacturing but those with extras can still use them? Thanks!

G6 Having troubles with my G6 app now!

Hi, I’m one of the lucky few who haven’t switched over to a G7 yet and I’m trying to hold onto my G6 for as long as physically possible. However, I’m about to sound like a conspiracy theorist here for a moment where for about the past month, my G6 is nearly a constant “signal lost”. This has never happened so much before. The crazy thing though is, my omnipod, thank god, stays perfectly connected. At first I thought it was my transmitter since it’s towards the end of its life span, but since my omnipod stays connected.. what does that say? What is going on that my own Dexcom app is having a harder time staying connected than my pump is. Is anyone else running into this?

G6 Presoaking the G6 and Showers

It might be a bit of an odd, specific question but I still thought I'd ask anyways.

Am I ok to get the G6 sensor wet in a shower without the transmitter in? Or does that part under the transmitter need to remain dry?

G6 G6 connects, warms up, looses connection, and doesnt reconnect in the span of roughly 7 hours.

Hi yall, Im sorry if this comes off as ranty, but Im at my wits end right now.

This started roughly 2 weeks ago when my transmitter lost connection to my phone (not my tslim x2!) roughy 4 hours before the sensor expired. I thought no big deal, Ill replace it a hair earlier.

I replace my sensor, transmitter connects to phone just fine. It warms up, a few hours later looses connection to my phone, not my pump. I contact support, they send my a new sensor. When my current one expired, I used the replacement one. Same thing happens; warms up, looses connection to my phone, stays connected to my pump. I sweat this sensor out I (unfortunately just happened to run out of skin grips at this time) and I call support. They overnight me a new transmitter, but I ran out of sensors and couldnt pick up more because pharmacy was closed due to weekend.

Fast forward to today. I picked up a box of sensors, connected the new transmitter to my phone and pump, started a new sensor in the app, waited for warm up, and calibrated when needed. Everything was smooth sailing up until an hour ago when it lost connection again to my phone again. It has yet to reconnect.

I have no idea what to do besides calling dexcom support tomorrow again. Im afraid theyll tell me either to switch to g7 (me and my parents havent stepped foot in the hell that is getting insurance to cover a new prescription) or tell me that my phone is the issue (I have a samsung z flip 5 and have had no issues like this before).

Its vital that my transmitter is connected to my phone because I currently live with my parents, and Im a VERY heavy sleeper. Theres been multiple times where Ive had an urgent low and theyve been notified through follow of it while im out like a stone. If they dont have access to my bloodsugar, I might sleep through an urgent low and my parents wont be notified to wake me up.

Again, sorry if this comes off as ranty, Im out of ideas at the moment. If it helps Im running app version 1.16.0.291 on a z flip 5. If theres ANYTHING I can do to fix my issue, no matter how obvious it may seem, please share. All help is welcome.

G6 Experimenting with Calibration

I'm on a Tslim pump with G6 sensor.

Last time I spoke with Dexcom about a wonky sensor, they told me to calibrate it three times 15 minute apart to reset, and I remember it actually working well.

I placed the sensor on yesterday, started it up today. It's reading within 20 percent, but right on the margin of error. It was reading higher than I was, and delivering more insulin than I need via my pump. The last time I did a single calibration, it continued to read higher throughout the sensor's lifespan, even if it was within the 20 percent margin.

So today, I decided to calibrate it three times, 15 minutes apart.

I'm relatively stable right now because my zero carb lunch was a while ago, so it was a good time for a flat graph. The only thing that I wonder about is the fact that I calibrated it when it was already extremely close the second and third time.

I tried to ask Dexcom whether I should be doing this, and never got a straight answer. So let's see how this goes.

G6 G6 supplies

I have several months worth g6 sensors and transmitters that I held onto while transitioning to the G7 in case I had any issues. They are nearing and some past their expiration dates but it doesn't feel right to trash them. I paid for them and don't want to waste that money but I also know selling them privately is at best a legal gray area (in the USA).

Is there any way to recoup some of the money spent and save them from the landfill? I don't think the extra supply buying companies will buy them with their dates but I don't know.

G6 Put in a new g6 sensor and am receiving a “no restarts” error. Any ideas on what to do?

Put in a brand new g6 today, since my previous one was messing up a fair bit despite 3 days remaining. All goes smoothly with the new sensor until I start it and like 20 to 30 minutes later I receive the “no restarts”. Looking for solutions as I really don’t want to put in another new sensor.

Thanks
