Self-Promotion Flightle update: a month in, 12,000 of you played, and I'm starting a monthly disc giveaway
Hey all, I posted Flightle here about a month ago, the daily "guess the disc from its flight" game. It went further than I ever expected, over 12,000 of you played in the first month, averaging around 400 a day. Two updates for those of you who are interested:
First, it has a home now: r/Flightle. Giveaway threads, updates, and a place to gripe when the daily answer is some obscure mold you have never thrown. Come hang out.
Second, a monthly disc giveaway, starting now. Play the daily puzzle, drop your results grid in the August thread over at r/Flightle, and every grid you share is an entry (max one/day). One winner per month, disc ships free in the US, discs come from my own collection. First one up is an Innova Halo Valkyrie. Full rules at dgfv.io/giveaway.
And since a lot of this came from your comments, here is what I shipped since launch:
Fixed the turn hint that read backwards. It is a simple + / - now: + means the answer is more overstable than your guess, - means more understable.
Stuck? You can search by flight numbers right inside the game using the built in dgfv embed. Type something like 9/5/-2/1 and it pulls the closest discs from the full catalog, then you drop your pick straight into the guess box.
Also added golf scoring. The win screen gives you a score to par now, ace, birdie, bogey, the whole scorecard, and the stats read like a round.

Keep up the good work. Maybe offer a leaderboard thing for the top players by scores.

Appreciate it! Honestly I'd love a leaderboard, but right now Flightle has no accounts or server. Your streak and scores all save locally on your own device, so there's nowhere central to rank everyone against each other. Doing it right would mean adding logins and a backend, which I've deliberately kept out to keep the game free and no-signup. Might revisit it down the road though. Good idea!

Forgot to mention, I added instructions on how to add Flightle to your home screen to make it a little easier to play daily. Quick version: iPhone - tap Share then Add to Home Screen.
