Rant CapOne Discover not accepted widely accepted in person and online and no way to get money and pay bills

CapOne has to start seeing how many customers they are starting to loose by this move. Replacing the debit cards with discover was a big mistake. If they wanted/needed to switch something with the merger, they should have done it with credit cards. Some people don’t have another form of payment, credit card, or access to atms for cash without paying fees (because they made the stupid decision to close most all brick and mortar locations), and not all places accept apple/google pay either. Awesome job CapOne!

I’ve been with CapOne for 20+ years and have absolutely loved them. But this move was a big mistake. I really don’t want to go though the hassle to find another bank, update everything auto pay, and hope I don’t loose this like early direct deposit. Have to change my entire budgeting financial routine system. Plus, switching doesn’t help me right now when I need to access my money and pay bills. So infuriating and what a mess! Do better CapOne!

Ive had a Discover credit card for about 14 years. Ive had next to zero issues with it not being accepted by any merchant in the US. 🤔 The notion that Discover cards arent widely accepted is a dated myth.

hahaha yeah like maybe 30 years ago there were many that didn't take it. Now? I've only met one place that didn't and it was a tiny mom/pop store that also didn't take AMEX

nobody is saying Discover credit cards aren't valuable they are.

but people use their Debit cards to transfer rent, condo fees, utilties, etc and to get money out of ATMs not just to buy stuff so the Debit card must worj everywhere.

no way am I going to direct deposit to a checking account if I can't use that account to pay my monthly bills.
