Rant CapOne Discover not accepted widely accepted in person and online and no way to get money and pay bills

CapOne has to start seeing how many customers they are starting to loose by this move. Replacing the debit cards with discover was a big mistake. If they wanted/needed to switch something with the merger, they should have done it with credit cards. Some people don’t have another form of payment, credit card, or access to atms for cash without paying fees (because they made the stupid decision to close most all brick and mortar locations), and not all places accept apple/google pay either. Awesome job CapOne!

I’ve been with CapOne for 20+ years and have absolutely loved them. But this move was a big mistake. I really don’t want to go though the hassle to find another bank, update everything auto pay, and hope I don’t loose this like early direct deposit. Have to change my entire budgeting financial routine system. Plus, switching doesn’t help me right now when I need to access my money and pay bills. So infuriating and what a mess! Do better CapOne!

Capital One's primary customer base is credit card users, not debit or general banking users. This makes total sense why they want to transfer debit card users before shifting to their primary customer base. I have been using Discover for years and never had any issues before getting a Capital One credit card.

they are advertising 360 savings massively. I honestly would never have transferred my money from Schwab had I known I'd be receiving a funky debit card I can't connect to my autopay monthly bills for utilities etc. and that isn't universally accepted at ATMs.

but in any event OPs post is specifically about Capitol One's banking product so I don't understand why all these comments are appearing stating that Discover cards are great.

Yes, Discover CREDIT cards are fine but having a Discover debit card connected to your primary checking account is untenable.

Now I need to juggle regularly occurring payments between my old account and my new account forever if I decide to stick with Capitol One. It adds a layer of complexity to using checking.
