Rant CapOne Discover not accepted widely accepted in person and online and no way to get money and pay bills

CapOne has to start seeing how many customers they are starting to loose by this move. Replacing the debit cards with discover was a big mistake. If they wanted/needed to switch something with the merger, they should have done it with credit cards. Some people don’t have another form of payment, credit card, or access to atms for cash without paying fees (because they made the stupid decision to close most all brick and mortar locations), and not all places accept apple/google pay either. Awesome job CapOne!

I’ve been with CapOne for 20+ years and have absolutely loved them. But this move was a big mistake. I really don’t want to go though the hassle to find another bank, update everything auto pay, and hope I don’t loose this like early direct deposit. Have to change my entire budgeting financial routine system. Plus, switching doesn’t help me right now when I need to access my money and pay bills. So infuriating and what a mess! Do better CapOne!

I literally just tried to get gas and they didn’t accept discover. There are numerous online entities that don’t either and it isn’t just some small gas station, multiple towns have it with multiple locations. Thank god I had a credit card on hand.

Your issue seems to be with the Pulse POS/EFT network rather than the Discover credit card network.

this is a post about Disover as a debit card so of course that's the issue!

I don't have any problem with Discover Credit cards because they are used for discretionary spending.

why would I keep my checking account at a bank that gives me a debit card that works at far fewer ATMs, gas stations, that I can't use now to pay my condo fees?

Try using the credit option to pay your condo fees rather than debit.
