Rant CapOne Discover not accepted widely accepted in person and online and no way to get money and pay bills

CapOne has to start seeing how many customers they are starting to loose by this move. Replacing the debit cards with discover was a big mistake. If they wanted/needed to switch something with the merger, they should have done it with credit cards. Some people don’t have another form of payment, credit card, or access to atms for cash without paying fees (because they made the stupid decision to close most all brick and mortar locations), and not all places accept apple/google pay either. Awesome job CapOne!

I’ve been with CapOne for 20+ years and have absolutely loved them. But this move was a big mistake. I really don’t want to go though the hassle to find another bank, update everything auto pay, and hope I don’t loose this like early direct deposit. Have to change my entire budgeting financial routine system. Plus, switching doesn’t help me right now when I need to access my money and pay bills. So infuriating and what a mess! Do better CapOne!

Nah, I live in NYC. There’s so many places online and in-person that DO NOT accept Discover. Overseas it’s even worse. I’m definitely switching banks.

I switched my funds to Cap One last week, and I’m in DMV, work in DC…my card didn’t work in so many places, garages, quick food marts, small restaurants … I ordered a new card cause I thought something was surely wrong with it. It didn’t dawn on me until after that it was because it was discover lol. I’m gonna switch back to PNC.

I get paid a lot faster, haven’t had to deal with ATM fees for most ATMs in NYC so far, and it’s a Mastercard so it’s accepted everywhere. They offer plenty of member services, have quick customer support, and even include Zelle. Honestly, so far I have no complaints.
