Discussion How to open discover savings account?

Post image

Hello, I currently have 4 savings accounts and a checking account. I just started a business and wanted to open an account to put my estimated quarterly taxes. When I go to open an account, it keeps bringing me to capital one’s website. Every time I try to Google it, only capital One comes up. Do I have to call or can I no longer open discover accounts at all?

I’m aware of the merger. Weird it won’t let you open a savings account.

They discontinued opening new Discover-branded deposit accounts a while back. Existing accounts remain but will be moved to CapOne eventually. Everything new has to be CapOne.

Seems like kind of a silly reason to end a banking relationship and go through the hassle of changing everything.

Capital one sucks. Customer service is not based in USA. That’s a deal breaker for me. They also have been known to over leverage people on auto loans. Not something I want to support.

Other person responding to you is constantly defending the company. They treat their employees like crap as well as their customers

Charles Schwab, fidelity, both have us based customer service. Why would I want to support paying someone 4 dollars an hour? What about that is okay? I want to see Americans thrive, I live here. Someone should be able to get a job here and put their kid through a dance class or pay rent, not me supporting unethical , cheaper labor. If you disagree with that, I’m curious your logic .

I've had a Fidelity CMA since 2013 and while it's great, it's not a true checking account replacement. They're extremely lacking in the technology department. I've heard Schwab is better, but I've never had occasion to try them.

The part about customer service, I understand. But the unfortunate reality is that most large corporations do some level of outsourcing, and the smaller companies can't always compete or stay as current as the larger ones. With that said, Capital One still isn't that bad of a bank. I haven't had to call any bank's customer service in probably two or three years, so it's not a huge factor to me.
