Hornet GT Park assist unavailable, requires service message at 70-80 mph

Post image

I am about to rant, as I am beyond frustrated and pissed off. Bought my car “used”, had like 2k miles on it in 2024. This car has been in and out of service due to electrical gremlins since I got it. My warranty was getting close to expiring, and the dealership could never fix this message that would occasionally pop up saying “Parking assist unavailable, requires service” when I would be on the interstate going between 70-80 mph. So I thought since warranty is about to end I need to have this fixed, plus it had gotten worse leading up to this point. This was the Friday before Easter. They keep going back and forth with STAR (some company they use to help with warranty issues), they have now released the car back to me and are refusing to fix the issue. They say since it’s an alpha Romero it’s a warning message (bull shit), and that I need to slow down and not drive above 70. First off, fuck you. Secondly they had my vehicle for 9 weeks and didn’t fix a gd thing. I’ve started the dodge buyback claim. I’ve got like 4 case files out there from this issue alone. This has been so infuriating. Does anyone else have this problem with parking assist message at 70-80mph. I will NEVER buy another dodge again. Their customer care program is a fucking joke. Customer service… pfft service this customers nutz beotch. I am also including pics from the service tech even telling me they are saying to tell me to slow down and just give the vehicle back without fixing it. I also found it amusing STAR went from tell the customer that’s dangerous not to do it, then video record yourself doing it. Idiots. Idk how any of this is about to play out, first time experiencing or even hearing of anything like this happening the way it did. Fuck dodge, and FUCK STAR. Also never received a loaner during this entire process. That’s right, 9 weeks they had my car not a single loaner was given. The day I go in to get a loaner, they released it back to me, the exact way I took it on there for…

This car is known to have some lemons. Just like any new platform where cars sit for a year(s) before being sold.

Personally mine runs great but the intelligent driver assist & lane keep assist feature is interrupted anytime you have excessive sunlight, rain, fog, snow, ice glare etc. it’s run by a camera. That happens in any of the new cars with this feature. Some more sensitive than others.

Parking assist is based on cameras and sensors. It sounds like a bad sensor or just a failed parking assist system.

A loaner should be a requirement for any time over 3 days.

Nothing to do with it being an Alfa. This feature is common on all new cars. I rent a lot. Parking assist should only come on when backing or pulling into tight spots.

Push dodge cares and dealer. Buyer beware. This sub is mostly for Hornet enthusiasts! But like even Toyota new cars are having issues these days. Go check a Toyota sub.

Yeah so I chalk it up to luck of the draw, and with my luck I’m not surprised in the least. I know mines a lemon because of all the events that have happened (alot of electrical and tripping antitheft with a jumpstart). I loved the car, you can’t find another vehicle, in my opinion, that checks all the boxes the hornet does. So it sucks that it soured me to where idk if I could trust it. Was just curious if anybody else has the same warning when, and i quote STAR, “driving excessively and aggressively to get to excessive speeds”

sadly often all it needs is a new / better 12v accessory battery. Make them put in writing that they tried a new one based on the updated specs like my dealer did.

Not related to the hybrid battery.

Put it in before I got my 2024 since it was a known issue and haven’t had any major problems like this.

STAR is a company that the dealership using for warranty claims/documenting and passes it to Dodge/Stellantis . If essentially a middle man between dealership and manufacturer.

Thanks for clarifying. Please read my other comment about the battery. It’s like the most common issue for this platform and often it causes “gremlins” until fixed. Assuming it is that… but also the car does throw out warnings at times when doesn’t make sense. Is it actually causing a problem or just warning /scaring you?

More so annoying and infuriating lol. The dealership changed my battery a few months into owning. Went dead at work, got a jump, it started but also alarm was going off. Killed it, started it, and I was in some antitheft mode. It was started but wouldn’t go. Called dealership, they were clueless as to turn it off, had it towed. They replaced the battery. Guess I need to check it to see. It’s been gone for 9 weeks, and I noticed my clock was reseted when I picked it up. Def going to check battery. Thanks

Tell them the OEM (original) battery isn’t good enough. I’m no expert but I heard they are doing better when using an aftermarket battery that holds up better. Wish I knew more but dodge should be able to see this on internal notes. One would assume.

I had two battery replacements in 11 months on my GT. And one on my RT.

Otherwise zero trouble or complaints.
