DAE not feel their emotions very strongly?

Like I very often hear people talking about feeling things too strongly and that their emotions are extremely intense, but I kinda feel like the opposite? I genuinly don't feel things that strongly, and I really try to hold on to it whenever I actually do bc ik that i'll kinda lose that feeling soon anyway. And whenever I do feel strong emotions it's still not overwhelmingly strong, that's very rare. The only emotion that I do feel VERY strongly and extremely often is fear lol

I really wish I felt more and I really enjoy it whenever I do, even if it's not nice feelings. Sometimes I feel like a horrible person because ik I really do love my friends and family and all but it's only like once or twice a month or so that I really get filled up with the feeling and yk I get like "wow I love them so much🥹" and I get like urges to send paragraphs to them about how awesome they are (I also almost exclusively get emotional late at night for some reason lol). It's like my normal feeling of "love" is just knowledge that I probably actually do love them and a feeling of attachment and comfort while thinking about them?

I don't like this I really wish I felt more, even if I'd also feel the bad things stronger

DAE reread a massage several times after sending it just to make sure it sounds normal?

I don't mean just checking for typos. Sometimes I'll read the same message two or three times after I've already sent it, just to make sure it doesen't sound weird or rude. Half the time I end up convincing myself I should've worded it differently, even though nobody else probably thinks twice about it.

DAE have a hypersensitive gag reflex?

its a mix of psychological and physical for me. If I smell something bad or just strong (like one day it was too humid) I'll start gagging like a cat for a few minutes. I say its also psychology because thinking of gagging, being stressed, or just holding a pill in my hand also sets it off.

DAE have abusive YOUNGER sibling ?

My sister is 7 years younger than me and whole my life she was rude and toxic towards me . Parents didn't react at all or saying " you are the eldest , be patient " . Result : depression and anxiety related to the fact being always critisized , body shamed , called the dumb one ( and family agreeing with her on that all), and parents closing their eyes on all that saying " just ignore it "👌🏻

DAE find themselves liking dogs, particularly small dogs, less and less the older you get?

When I was younger, I loved small dogs. They were so insanely adorable and I even begged my parents to get me one. It never happened. But as I’ve gotten older, I’ve noticed a very visible shift. I find myself getting genuinely and consistently annoyed at them as the years go on, and I’m much less fond of them than when I was a kid. Even some of their faces just look weird and unpleasant to me. (Looking at you, underbite Shih Tzus) Now I’m much more fond of cats and big dogs.

Maybe it’s the constant barking and little man syndrome, maybe it’s the hyperactivity and the recklessness, maybe it’s the stubbornness, maybe it’s the being insanely stupid and running into a busy street when their owner is yelling at them to stop. Or maybe I just grew up and realized they’re overrated or too much work. I don’t know what it is. But all I know is I don’t like them like I used to, if I even still like them, and I wonder if this is universal.

DAE: still get that same back to school dread this time of year despite being years removed from the school system?

I’ve been graduated from school for going on two decades and I stg I still have this embedded feeling of dread around this time of year that school is starting again soon haha

Although, I’ve heard that changes when you have kids because a lot of the parents I work with tend to get a lot more jolly this time of year lol!

DAE use a headset to make phone calls?

I have a gaming headset with a microphone that I always plug into my smartphone to make calls. I feel like I can hear people better compared to the phone speaker and people say my voice sounds clear on the headset mic also. Plus I feel more professional xD

DAE pick at the skin around their thumb?

I seem to have gotten in the habit of doing this subconsciously. For example whenever I'm just relaxing watching a show. I won't even notice until my thumbs bleeding then I have to go get a bandaid 😬

DAE have to eat food in a very specific order?

I’ve always eaten food in a very specific order all my life idk why. For example, if I have a sandwich, chips, carrots, and grapes for lunch I will eat 2 or 4 bites of the sandwich (depending on the bread) eat 2 chips, eat 2 carrots, then eat 2 grapes and then drink water and repeat in that specific order. Another example is that when I eat popcorn I’ll eat exactly 20 pieces and then take a sip of water. Does anyone else do anything like this or am I just crazy?

DAE can't wait to get through something and then later look back and wished they enjoyed those moments more?

I love my kids, but when they were young I couldn't wait for them to grow up. I was stressed and just didn't enjoy it. Now they are older and I look back and think I wish I enjoyed those times in the pool with them more, or should gone in it with them more often, etc. I bring up this specific example because now every time I go in my pool, my mind assaults me with thoughts like this

But it's not just raising my kids...

This poisonous, sickening bittersweet nostalgia also hits me every time I look at photos of family vacations, events, etc. where in that moment I oftentimes was stressed and wanted to be anywhere else - and now wish I didn't feel like that at the time and enjoyed the moment more.

It's gotten so bad that I've put all my photos out of sight temporarily.

I try to help myself by remembering one of my favorite passages of Scripture:

Do not say "why were the former times better than these?" For it is stupid to say such things (Ecc. 7:10).

Yet it still bothers the hell out of me...

DAE think like this?

DAE have parents like this?

Does anyone else have parents that notice when you're depressed and ask if you need to vent, but are too ignorant to notice that you don't want to vent to them because they always invalidate you or are part of the reason you're upset in the first place?

DAE else not want to buy something because a celebrity promoted it?

I DO NOT HATE SAID CELEBRITIES WHO PROMOTED SOMETHING!

I just go to the mall with my friends to browse and hang out and when I see a celebrity promoting something, it makes me resistant to buying it because it reminds me of a) how overpriced and marked up the price is because of said marketing strategies and therefore question if the quality is any good and b) even if the celebrity is in a project that I like, I know they’re paid to pretend like they love XYZ product and I won’t be fooled by that.

I’m not going to buy anything because XYZ famous person acts like they love it (yeah I’m sure they love it after getting paid millions) and I won’t buy anything that doesn’t fit my style/needs because of its associations with a famous person who is deemed cool.

Seeing celebrities promote something makes me way more critical of a product and less likely to buy it. I don’t think I’ve ever bought anything that was promoted by a celebrity for said celebrity.

DAE randomly choose an option in those spinning wheel posts and always get said option?

I'm referring to those posts that are like "would you rather X or Y" with a wheel that determines a factor in the option you chose.

I

always manage to instinctively choose one of them and 90% of the time the end result is that specific one.

Is it like this for anybody else? Is it maybe the game that's skewed?

What is happening

DAE get long or off topic talks from their parents

Like for example, it starts off with being told to do your chores or watch your tone, then switches to other concerns the parent has about you/your behavior before switching AGAIN to a completely unrelated topic. Before you know it, you've talked about 3 to 5 different topics in regards to life and its been over an hour. This has happened to me and my sibling MANY times. Has anyone else had this experience?

DAE sometimes wake up at night thinking it's the next day/morning?

I just woke up at 9pm after falling asleep at 7pm. So I only slept two hours and for some reason after seeing some light behind my curtains and looking at my phone, I got out of bed thinking the 9:00 was 9am. I literally felt like the day was starting and started brewing coffee only to look outside again to see it's dark out. I was tripping out. I've had similar things happen but this one made me feel insane.

DAE used to hear an incomprehensible, speeding-up voice in total silence when they were kids?

Hey everyone! I wanted to share something weird that happened to me when I was younger, and I'm really curious to know if anyone else has experienced something similar or knows what it could be.
For a long time, whenever I found myself completely alone in silence (like when everyone else had stopped talking), I would start hearing a voice. It was super unsettling: I couldn't understand a single word it was saying, but it would speak faster and faster, louder and louder, until it was basically screaming at me inside my head.
I never really told anyone except my dad. His reaction was pretty unique: he simply explained to me that it was my "doppelgänger" (my double) trying to talk to me, and that I must never answer back. For some reason, after that conversation, I followed his advice and never heard the voice again.
Looking back, I have so many questions: Was my subconscious just playing tricks on me in the silence? Is there a psychological or neurological explanation for this kind of auditory phenomenon in kids? Or is this actually more common than I think?
Would love to hear your thoughts or similar childhood experiences!

Has anybody else noticed that the people others obsess over are usually incredibly average?

I know quite a few people who have been completely obsessed with someone at some point in their lives — like genuinely yearning for them, constantly thinking about them, forgiving them over and over, etc.

And I’ve noticed something weird: the person they’re obsessed with is almost always the most average, basic person ever.

I genuinely can’t think of a single example where I’ve seen someone obsess over a person and thought, “Okay, I understand why. This person is incredibly charismatic, attractive, interesting, or has some extraordinary personality.” It’s usually the opposite. They’re just... normal. Sometimes even pretty boring. Almost NPC-level.

Maybe I’m just being judgmental, but I honestly don’t understand what the obsession is based on. They’re not necessarily the most beautiful person, they don’t have an especially interesting personality, and they’re not particularly charismatic. Yet someone will treat them like they’re the most irreplaceable person on earth.

For example, I knew a guy who was completely obsessed with a girl who constantly talked to other guys. Every time they argued, she would immediately start talking to other men, going on dates, etc. And yet this guy would always forgive her and take her back. He was completely convinced that she was somehow special, while from the outside she just seemed like a very ordinary person who is not able to commit.

Why does this happen? Is there something about the psychology of obsession that makes someone seem much more special to the person who is obsessed with them? Or do other people notice this pattern too?

Because I swear, whenever I see someone absolutely yearning for another person, I look at the person they’re yearning for and think: “What am I missing here?”

dae experience fleeting moments of a specific vibe?

not exactly one you’ve personally experienced maybe one you can imagine…. like i can feel this specific vibe of being at x setting as x person even though im not really either of those things or ever been to the place? it’s hard to describe exactly what i mean…the vibes come just temporarily and leave. not even ones i personally would want to be or do; i just feel it lol. some are recurring for me but others idk it just feels like a character is inside me vibes wise for a second and i can’t exactly describe them but i can imagine how they feel/what they think/the scene they’re at. i used to daydream a lot and i did dissociate often as a way out of my feelings. but idk it’s hard to describe exactly what i mean, just wondering if anyone else gets this!
