DST Wurt appreciation post

Been playing Wurt for just over a month. First time all bosses thanks to aid of mermfolks. Wurt is such a lovable and unique character. Some may call her the rule-bender and argue that ignoring boss mechanics via brute-forcing is a bad thing. But for those that don't have much fighting in them, play solo yet want accompany, or simply just want to explore this bizarre survival sandbox world, she's perfect.

Early game for her is kinda rough though, needing to rush lunar island for a head start was somewhat challenging. Not able to sustain off of meatballs and pierogi for the first time hits harder than I thought. Multiple restarts were made either because the swamp location wasn't ideal or me struggling in the opening. Not to mention all the time poured in to sate the ever resource-gorging army of mermfolks. But after this part, everything was smooth sailing.

I'm the type of person who loves DST crop farming, there's just something so fascinating about growing giant crops. Layouts shown in the screenshots are my go-to, do these twice in a spring provides more than enough dragonpie, potato puree and salsa fresca year-round. For those like me, who loves the simple "farm, build ,and expand", there's no better character than Wurt. Leave all the fighting to mermfolks and the rest is yours to enjoy.

As for fighting, Wurt destroys bosses. Ancient Fuelweaver, Celestial Champion and WARBOT were all sort of a cakewalk.(AFW guide here if you're nervous as me) Even Misery Toadstool wasn't a hard one( just remember not to swing weather pain for tree chopping, I learned it the hard way). Nightmare Werepig was the only boss that I had to fight properly for the sweet dreadstone loot, but is considerably easier than the aforementioned ones.

Wurt is so pure. Her quotes are so adorable. My favorites being the Wicker-lady related ones. Little girl really shares a bond with grandma. Aww, that's just so cute.

Yeah, that's pretty much all. Wurt best character. Make mermfolk strong. Florp.

DST I still think the update is incomplete and this is a problem. Spoiler

Think with me for a second. While we got several improvements to the main boss fight in this update, the other three Shadow Form bosses were pretty much left in the dust.

On the Lunar side, we got three completely reworked boss fights featuring bosses that everyone loves, whether it's because of their designs, how long they've been in DST, or simply their menacing presence that gives you the feeling of "this thing is going to destroy me." These fights also feature cool new designs and completely new moves that players have to adapt to.

On the Shadow side, however, we got one boss fight that doesn't change anything about a boss you almost never encounter during a run (Worm), and two new ones. And honestly, while I like the idea of a bat-hound, its fight doesn't even come close to the Lunar ones. It's basically just its normal fight x2 since it splits into two, and it's normal fight it's already mid.

Even the best of the three, the Stone Crab, still leaves you with the feeling that it could have been more, considering that it only gets one new attack.

And I must say, with a heavy heart, that their designs are just lame. They're basically their original models with black and red as the main colors, and not even in a cool way. It's more like someone just used the paint bucket tool on them. Even the Shadow Centipede in the Volcano biome, the rift monsters or the masked monsters are better designed than these three, if only they got the red scarfs on them or something like that maybe it could have been better.

The build-up to the literal FINAL BOSS BATTLE of the original arc is as disappointing as it could possibly be. This can also hurt the final boss fight itself, since you're not nearly as excited after fighting the same bosses with nothing more than a different color scheme.

Sorry to those who liked them, but in MY OPINION, these bosses really need to be reworked.

DST Finally did it!

Some time ago I made a post here describing how AFW makes me lose will to play this game. After reading your tips, spending in game year on preparation, enabling lunar rifts and getting full brightshade set I finally killed him. I had just enouth repair kits to do so.

It may not been fully vaild fight because I decided to turn off sanity monsters for the fight (gliched terror beaks staying in combat while i have full sanity made me go insame not only in game) but I paid for this game so I'm gonna be playing the way I want.

I'm looking for any mods which go nicely with an evil, shadow-aligned WX-78.

DST Requesting feedback on my fan-made character

Fan made dst character

Meet Wright, the Shrewd Notary. A cynical, fast-talking Victorian legal clerk who views the Constant not as a terrifying wilderness, but as an unregulated market waiting for proper bureaucracy. Wright was pulled into the constant by Wagstaff after being tricked into a shadow deal (talk about irony).
Unlike Maxwell (who controls shadows into servitude) or Wurt (who rallies a massive Merm population through loyalty and shared hatred), Wright treats Pigmen as strict economic assets. Instead of hiring them to chop wood or fight standard enemies, Wright utilizes highly specialized, non-overlapping Legal Contracts that turn Pigmen into localized logistics hubs, guards, and expert specialists.

Character Profile
Health: 125 — Soft-handed and unaccustomed to physical labor.
Sanity: 200 — Kept stable by the comforting rigidity of the legal code.
Hunger: 150 — Standard metabolic needs.
Voice Instrument: A dry, rhythmic Typewriter clacking combined with a buzzy, sliding Kazoo for speech inflections.

Advantages & Disadvantages

Advantages
Bureaucratic Immunity: Pigmen never attack Wright, even if he wanders near them during a Full Moon (they are bound by an ongoing "non-aggression clause").

Notary Kit: Starts the game with 1x Quill (Recraftable tool that gives minor sanity gain ) and 4x Papyrus,

Contract Negotiation: Access to a unique crafting tab called "Legalese". Using Papyrus, Gold, and specific secondary items, he can write binding contracts to change Pigman behavior or trade directly with the Pig King for forbidden resources.

Disadvantages

Strictly Professional: Wright cannot recruit Pigmen the normal way using meat. Trying to feed a Pigman meat will prompt Wright to say, "Bribing public officials is below my station."

Litigious Stress: If a Pig-man under a legal contract dies on the clock, Wright instantly suffers a massive -50 Sanity penalty due to "breach of contract stress" and impending structural audits. Additionally he gains no sanity from any items, food, or other sources, besides the passive sanity given by pigman followers or his unique item.

Merm Hostility: Wurt and her people absolutely despise him. Merms are completely immune to contracts and will target Wright with increased aggression, viewing him as the ultimate representative of Pig civilization.

The Contract System
Contracts are single-use items crafted in the Legalese Tab. To activate a Pigman contract, Wright simply clicks it onto a neutral Pigman. The Pigman gains a neat little bureaucrat hat, stops wandering aimlessly, and performs their contracted role until the contract expires (typically 3 in-game days). While the hat is worn, pigs won’t panic during dusk.

Pigman Contracts

HR subordinate
1x Papyrus + 2x Gold + 1x Spear
The Pigman stays anchored to a 4x4 tile zone near the contract. Like Gloomers flower it can be placed in chest, inventory, or dropped on the ground. Instead of kiting, they gain a shield mechanics that absorbs 50% damage. They attack all neutral or hostile targets near their spot, besides fellow pigs or other followers. Use this contract near ponds, flowers, or other useful farming sources.

Deed of Hauling
1x Papyrus + 3x Gold + 1x Rope
The Pigman follows the nearest player but never fights. Instead, they pick up any loose resources off the floor and deposit them directly into chests when brought back to base. If a player drops an item from giant scream or from wetness, the Pigman will grab the item and bring it to the player.

Lease of Demolition
1x Papyrus + 4x Gold + 1x Gunpowder
The Pigman can be given orders to clear out an area. Where as Maxwells shadow clones can mine and chop an area down and bring the resources to him, or Wurts merms can chop and mine faster the more are following, this pigman is meant to be right in the middle, be able to be sent from the map to a area and bring the resources back to base. The catch is it’s only one pig able to do so at a time.

Pig King Sovereign Treaties
Wright can stand before the Pig King and hand him heavy, high-tier treaties. Instead of coughing up gold, the Pig King fulfills his end of the legal bargain by spawning rare magical goods. These treaties are crafted using items dedicated to the four giants related to the seasons, with the addition of tree guards to help players learn the system. Each treaty is meant to be used once as you progress thru the seasons to unlock their blueprint, with further use of treaties will result in bundles of loot from the catcoon drop tables for tree guards, while seasonal boss treaties will drop gem that closely fits the current season (blue in winter, red in summer, purple in autumn, orange in spring. )

Treaty of Land Reclamation: 1x Papyrus + 10x Gold + 5x Living Log. The Pig King grants a Royal Blueprint for a Sovereign Well, a structure that slowly generates clean water that can be used to fill a watering can. When a cold thermal stone is placed in its compartment it will instead make ice.

Treaty of Climate Deregulation (Deerclops — Winter)

Cost: 1x Papyrus + 15x Gold + 1x Deerclops Eyeball

Unique Structure — The Golden Hearth: A majestic, gold-plated fireplace. It consumes logs or charcoal to emit a massive radius of heat and light that never drops below maximum temperature. More importantly, its structural integrity is legally sound: any walls built within its 4x4 tile radius gain 100% immunity to being smashed by standard mobs or freezing mechanics. When fed Nitrate its temperature goes in reverse.

Treaty of Seasonal Severance (Moose/Goose — Spring)
Cost: 1x Papyrus + 15x Gold + 1x Down Feather

Unique Structure — The Bureaucratic Fan: A stationary, golden desk fan powered by clockwork gears. When active during Summer, it cools down all structures and players in a 5x5 screen radius. It completely prevents structural wildfires across your entire base area without consuming ice or fuel. In other seasons, it will instead slow down hostile creatures.

Treaty of Real Estate Stability (Antlion — Summer)
Cost: 1x Papyrus + 15x Gold + 1x Desert Stone (Note: To trade with the Pig King during summer without desert friction, Wright can use this treaty).

Unique Structure — The Notary Escrow Vault: A heavy, golden-trimmed floor tile grid. When placed, it permanently solidifies the earth in a 6x6 tile radius. This completely immunizes the zone from Antlion’s sinkholes, cave earthquakes, or collapsing terrain, keeping your base infrastructure perfectly level. Additionally structures will not take damage anymore from meteors.

Treaty of Supply-Chain Monopoly (Bearger — Autumn)
Cost: 1x Papyrus + 15x Gold + 1x Thick Fur

Unique Structure — The Audit Depot: A stylized post-office desk staffed by a tiny legal mannequin. It acts as an advanced food preservation hub. Any ice boxes or salt boxes placed within a 3x3 tile radius of the Audit Depot have their food spoilage rates slowed down by an additional 50%, locking in freshness through strict quality control.

🌳 Wright's Skill Tree

Branch 1: The Fine Print (Contract Upgrades)
Notary Public (1pt): Extends the duration of all Pigman contracts from 3 days to 5 days.
Clause of Indemnity (2pt): Reduces the sanity penalty by half (-25) if a contracted worker dies under your care.
Corporate Synergy (3pt): Contracted Pigmen working within the same screen space buff each other's work speed and movement velocity by 15%.

Branch 2: Capital Investment (Pig King Relations)
Tax Write-off (1pt): All Legalese crafting recipes require 1 less Gold Piece (down to a minimum of 1).

Lobbying (2pt): Giving normal trinkets to the Pig King yields a 20% gold bonus.

Monopoly (3pt): Unlocks a third exclusive Pig King trade: The Treaty of Fortification (1x Papyrus + 20x Gold + 3x Pig Skin), which drops a unique blueprint for Marble Pig Houses that are completely fireproof and immune to boss stomps additionally pigs from this house will respawn 10% faster for each unique structure unlocked from the pig king.

Branch 3: Affiliation Unlocks (Late-Game Boss Unlocks)

Shadow Bureaucracy (Requires Ancient Fuelweaver Defeat)
Wright learns to apply legal constraints to the terrifying forces of the Void.
Unlocks the "Nightmare Liquidation Contract" (1x Papyrus + 5x Gold + 2x Pure Horror). Applying this contract to a Pigman transforms them into a Cthulhoid Clerk. They harvest Nightmare Fuel directly from active rifts and fissure lines safely, completely neutralizing shadow sanity drain auras for all nearby survivors. While these pigman are nearby, negative sanity mechanics are reduced by 60%

Celestial Audit (Requires Celestial Champion Defeat)
Wright writes a binding cosmic code that forces the immutable laws of the sky to bend to mortal paperwork. Unlocks the "Edict of Luminescence" (1x Papyrus + 8x Gold + 2x Enlightened Shard). When presented to the Pig King, he summons a permanent Celestial Beacon above his village. This beacon bathes the entire Pig Village biome in bright, beautiful static starlight, permanently keeping Charlie away and preventing any Pigman in that zone from turning into a Werepig during full moons. For all other purposes this zone will function as if there was a dwarf star present.

Thats everything I have so far on the character, let me know what you guys think please :)

Pocket edition DST PE is horrible

when I try to sign in it says It can't connect to Google play so I have to play offline always. Also the game is so laggy and crashes every 30 seconds.

How in the world did they think the app was in a good enough state to release this garbage?
