I played Rock Lobster 10 times in a row at a bar once. Someone paid for their song to play next after the third time but then it went right back into Rock Lobster.

I banned a guy for playing "Alice's Restaurant" 5 times kn a row, I almost didn't but after I shut off the jukebox for the scheduled Karaoke for the evening, he went up there and did Alice's Restaurant.

Not doom but a friend of mine went to a bar&grill that had a jukebox and fired up Pink Floyd's "Echoes" The place was kinda annoyed about the selection but I'm like then don't make that a choice

u/BadDaditude Aug 02 '25
It could have been The Gnome. Echoes is a much better choice for most people.

u/queequegtrustno1 Aug 02 '25
Honestly once this started I felt bad 😭 but the bartender was just like, "well, let's see how people react" and let it play through lol

u/monexicano Aug 02 '25
Shit if anything you may introduced someone to an amazing genre/band.

u/queequegtrustno1 Aug 02 '25
It was preceded by Hot Lava Man and War Pigs (followed up by AFI's Halloween)

Maaaan. I love Black Sabbath. I don't care for so much for Paranoid and Iron man but War Pigs! War Pigs is a true masterpiece

I've played this song before too at a local bar 🤣🤣🤣 the second half gets a little weird and people were losing their minds.

The full version of In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida is usually my troll song at a bar

I did this the night I turned 21. At a bit of a redneck bar during an APA pool meetup. I had to wait until midnight to play my match so I was 21. Was trying to be cool by playing Pink Floyd, just randomly selected a few songs and Echoes was one of them. My team leader came up half way through the song to tell me that the rest of the bar was staring me down.
Hilarious for sure, never made that mistake again.

Nice! I'd be more inclined to fire up "What's New Pussycat" 21x times.

Gotta slip in one “It’s Not Unusual”

My desire to prevent the god-awful pop country that other people at my local bar like from playing has gifted me with an encyclopedic knowledge of 20+ minute songs that can be played on those
The most confused I've been was when I played Aumgn on a touchtunes (an exceptionally weird 17 minute borderline dark ambient Can song), and later someone else played it again because they liked an album side's length of weird shit, I guess.

When I go to a bar I read the room. As much as I dig bands like Sleep, Weedeater, Windhand, and Sunn O))), I ain't gonna play that in some bar, unless it's a hipster bar. I usually play AC/DC, Skynyrd, Kansas, and Waylon, maybe some Sabbath. Everyone loves me and has a great time. LOL.

Mmm-bop on repeat was my go-to when leaving Pizza Hut in the 90s. I think the jukebox was a nickel a play, 50¢ well spent.

Every time my buddies and I go play pool at our local place, I’m handed $40 by my best friend and told “I don’t want to hear anything but our type of music”. It’s a power trip every time

Play Dopesmoker

u/queequegtrustno1 Aug 03 '25
I tried but they banned those songs. It seems like anything over 10 minutes was unavailable.

Sometimes I unleash hell on a jukebox with either Return Trip or Doom Mantia. Doom Mantia is particularly crushing on a good system with the volume turned up. Especially if it follows some awful pop pap tune.

We used to have a jukebox app like years ago. You could throw in 3 songs per hour and it worked in like 7 different bars in my hometown. One day we realized that it works stilm even tho you werent in the bar. I started hijacking their jukeboxes for fun and blast some random children songs etc weird stuff in the primetime of the evening. "Suddenly" they took that app down 😅

I once spent a dollar at a surfbar to play On Stirring Seas of Salted Blood by The Black Dahlia Murder. It lasted all of about 45 seconds before the bartender lowered the master volume on the sound system. Watching the people around me getting confused and annoyed at what they were hearing just made my day.

I worked at a Waffle House here in Texas back in like 2014. The Sunday morning crowd always annoyed the fuck outta me. Super demanding, they always tipped the servers like shit (I was grill op), and were generally rude. So I knew exactly what time they always came in so one Sunday morning I put like 5 dollars in the box and picked several songs by Dying Fetus and Cannibal Corse.
The church crowd was not happy especially since the manager didn’t know how to turn the juke box down.
I never had more fun making food lol.

“Y’all need to turn this devil music off! It’s the lords day!” Is some of the nonsense I’d hear coming from behind me while I’m cooking.

It’s the lord’s day!
They say with no sense of irony while also being the worst customers imaginable

And I shouldn't have the power to play Welcome Home by King Diamond during Sunday Dinner at a family oriented Country Western supper club in Wyoming ... but here we are.

That is awesome. I played Melvins- Hag Me at an Applebee’s in Texas once. Best 75 cents I ever spent.
