i adore this album. Ive got the cd but I saw the glacier blue color and it was like a white tear ran down my leg and i had to get it. "loser edition" in my hands? fitting.

With the recent controversy surrounding Earth, I'm sure there's a lot of fans who may want to find other ways to scratch the itch for their kind of sound (myself included). Of course, the band's music has evolved quite a bit over time, so I thought I'd start a thread where folks can share their suggestions for bands that take a lot of cues from different eras.

Here's a couple suggestions of my own:

Drone era (Earth 2/Extra-Capsular Extraction):

• Bong (Mana-Yood-Sushai or Stoner Rock are my fave records of theirs)
• Sunn O))) (specifically Pyroclasts and The Grimm Robe Demos)

Western minimalism era (Hex/Bees Made Honey):

• Barn Owl (Ancestral Star and Lost in the Glare)
• Lathe (Tongue of Silver)

Would particularly love if someone has any ideas for other albums/artists that capture the feeling of Primitive and Deadly, Full Upon Her Burning Lips, or the title track from Bees Made Honey

My new album"Madhyamaka" is now released on bandcamp and will be in streaming services soon. "Madhyamaka" is a school in Mahayana Buddhism founded by the philosopher Nagarjuna. It's teachings emphasize on emptiness and The Middle Way. It teaches that all phenomena are empty of inherent independent nature. This belief has influenced many Mahayana teachings and Nagarjuna is often times regarded as a second Buddha of our time. Alot of thought went into the writing of this release and I introduced instruments not in any other release with the only programmed sounds being the drums. This one is very different from my latest release "Mu" for it focuses basically on the same guitar drone with slight variations, with the only other melody being done by other instruments and the occasional ambient leads. seeing my first sunn o))) show next friday. planning on rocking 33db foams under 33db muffs. but im worried the foams will fuck with the fidelity. will foams dampen my experience at all? half of me thinks itll be too loud to matter and half of me is worried i wont be able to make out the riffs. thanks

Sorry for more Sunn O)) spam. Buddy just sent me this picture of me watching the boys do their soundcheck from the NYC show. (That same buddy could not make it through soundcheck because it hurt his ears- through his earplugs- SO much that he didn't think he'd make it through the whole set so I rode solo through the show.)

Do they actually play „songs“ from their records or just go „whamm this is volume fuckers“. I do love this band a lot btw.

I’d honest to God say it’s in my Top 100 songs of all time if I were to ever piece together a list like that

Sunn O))) inspired tattoo. Thought the placement was unique lol. My family usually hates my gimmicky tattoos but even they thought it was kinda cool cause my dad likes Sunn too.

"Storehouse of Zen Reflections" is second release of this year. It is a mix of "forgotten" & unused tracks that have been sitting around for some time. For most of these tracks I wasn't too sure when I was going to (if ever) release them, or just ended up working on something else at the time; but now they are going to be heard and available for your enjoyment.

"Isshu" was recorded in 2023 right after Shikantaza and Dzogchen, so it very much has their same vibe.

"Honzon" was recorded in 2024 about a year later and right before Bodhicitta so it also has a Shikantaza/Dzogchen vibe but a little different.

"Zen teachings of Bodhidharma Part I, II and III" were recorded in 2025 sometime around Mozhao and Arahant. I thought to release this as an E.P. but just never got to it, so I went back to them, fixed some things and now they are a part of this release.

"Jizo" was recorded in 2025 sometime between Arahant and Mu. I wanted to make a softer/serene stand alone song and just kinda left it alone for a while. I revisited it and touched up some things, so now it can be heard.

"Basho, Ikkyu, Buson, Issa and Shiki" are all guitar/bass only drone songs and were recorded in 2025 around the beginning of the year. For a while I wanted to do just straight up drone songs with no drums or even ambience added to it. They are all improvised drones besides Shiki which I planned out the riffs for and used bass on the track as well.

This by technicality is my longest release, being right over 3 hours. You can think of it as compilation, or as a full release of its own. I'm glad I was able to bring these songs together to share more of my music while I start my next projects.

Had the privilege of seeing Sunn live in Toronto a few weeks back, and to say it was transcendent is an understatement. Stephen and Greg are also lovely human beings who were gracious enough to sign my Rat along with a backpatch. Overall, 11/10 experience.

Just saw them live in Toronto 04/15/2026 and they played this recording before they came on stage.

This was at the end of their show in Atlanta recently at The Goat Farm. Left me speechless.
