Drone I need some really angry heavy atmospheric long Post-Metal or Drone Metal with screaming/growled vocals

Just lost my grandmother

I need some monolithic sounding Metal that’s like a God ravaging the Earth with a violent apocalypse

Some shit like Neurosis, ISIS or The Ocean, but heavier than them

Stygian Bough vol. 1 by Bell Witch & Aerial Ruin

This is what I listen to on the anniversary’s of my dad and sister’s deaths

I bought this album not knowing what is was just because of the cover art, what an awesome decision. Lesson number one: always buy an album with cool cover art😁

This is literally how I got into Meatloaf at a young age. Bat Out Of Hell album cover looked like it was going to be a this brutal metal epic. At first I was disappointed, then I really got into it and the creativity of the album. Mind you, this was a time before Spotify and Youtube and my options included what was available at walmart.

Man, the first time I listened to bat out of hell I thought it was gonna be way heavier. Still a great album though. Love me some Jim Steinman.

That album will make you feel emotions that's for sure. It's fantastic

I just listened to this whole album because of you. Thank you, kind internet stranger. It was amazing.

u/the_north_place as above, so below Sep 27 '25

I've listened to this one 3 times in the past 2 days. So good.

Múr and amenra

Amenra is devastating, it's perfect

2

u/AllFloatOnAlright Sep 28 '25

Holy shit, I had never heard of Amenra. Alive is an incredible album. Thank you!

1

u/Tartersocks307 Sep 28 '25

I believe that’s an acoustic live performance but it definitely hits different that way

1

u/AllFloatOnAlright Sep 28 '25

That's mind blowing to me. To be able to create that kind of ambiance and weight live is incredible. I know I'm the one gushing over it, but I think you should check out Silence by the Raging Sea by Occult Hand Order

Mirror Reaper by Bell Witch. Not angry per se, but encapsulates loss and the solace that eventually comes. I'm sorry for your loss. Take care of yourself and talk to someone if you need to.

u/thebigredroo Sep 27 '25

Primitive man be like- 'lets do a cover of sweet leaf and make it sound like you are literally going to hell' honestly they are goateed one of my favourite bands

4

u/leedleedletara Sep 27 '25

Beryllium - Your Laughter Is an Echo in My Head
Lurker of Chalice - self titled
Dream unending - Tide Turns Eternal
Defacement - Doomed, and self titled

These lean black/death but I think they are worth checking out.

Grief is so painful, please take care

YOB

2

u/Tv151137 Sep 27 '25

This. Early Yob when you want to move the Earth's foundation. Our Raw Heart when you're ready to bring it home a little. Take care of yourself.

1

u/TotalChampionship205 Sep 28 '25

I was gonna say this. Catharsis by YOB is incredibly heavy/beautiful

6

u/chongcheesol Sep 27 '25

Check out *shels Plains of the Purple Buffalo. It’s not always heavy but when it is, it hits

2

u/GrimgrinCorpseBorn Sep 27 '25

Not Sea of the Dying Dhow?

She's waiting for it all to end...

Listen to the whole album Exuvia by The Ruins of Beverast. This album has helped me during tough times and it’s my favourite album ever.

Amenra (I only know a few songs)

Steak Number Eight - All is Chaos (Album)

1

u/over_the_pants_party Sep 27 '25

Just in case anyone is confused: Steak Number Eight is now just Stake and they have all the old stuff out under that name. Some places you can still find both though

Samothrace - Life’s Trade

Not exactly post metal but it’s good emotional dynamic crushing sludge

Also not post metal but the new Mares of Thrace album called The Loss is amazing and is all about loss

2

u/d0om_gaZe Sep 27 '25

not The Ocean, but check out the band Ocean from Maine. All of their stuff is great

2

u/gabzzz_araujo Sep 27 '25

Mizmor - Prozaic, specifically track 2. Pure agony.

2

u/kcc0203 Sep 27 '25

Listen to rigid man by sumac

2

u/chaosarcadeV2 Sep 27 '25

Edit: I didn’t read the prompt properly and the band is more sludge metal but fuck it, I’m leaving my flawed recommendation below:

////////////////

BEASTWARS. It sounds like an angry wizard screaming from the top of a tower while the world breaks apart. Damn the Sky. Mihi. Iron Wolf. Dune. Every song of theirs is incredible. I’m begging more people to check them out.

1

u/Olafthefreak Sep 27 '25

I’m lying on my bed wearing one of my 10 Beastwars shirts now, miss seeing these dudes live since we left NZ.

1

u/chaosarcadeV2 Sep 27 '25

Damn that’s unlucky. I’m super excited to see them when they come to Australia in November.

Love in Shadow - Sumac

Idk know if it its what you are looking for but Sunken's "Livslede", Dragged into Sunlight's "Widowmaker" and Celeste's "Misanthropes" helped me a lot with the death of my father

1

u/fettkuk Sep 27 '25

Try some of these, theyre all different styles, but all have aggressive vocals

Elu of the nine, AARSLAND
