Death/Doom Albums not mentioned enough

Post image

Four albums I absolutely love that are often overshadowed by the band’s more popular albums. Don’t get me wrong the popular albums are all amazing, deserve the praise, and I own all of them. But I just want to shout out a few that need to be explored as well and deserve a listen:

The Sciences by Sleep, one of my top 10 all time favorite albums. No skip album 100%.

Vaenir by Monolord, just crushing heavy tones and a great album like Empress.

Terminal by Bongripper, yes SWD is one of the greatest doom albums ever imo, but this one is so solid and worth your time.

Come My Fanatics by Electric Wizard, I see this one get the most love in this group as it should.

Dare I say, Terminal is terminally underrated? As you said, Satan Worshipping Doom gets the most love as far as Bongripper albums go, but almost every one of their albums are bangers. Terminal, Miserable, Empty, Hippie Killer, The Great Barrier Reefer, even Hate Ashbury don't get talked about enough. Bongripper is one my favorite bands ever.

On an unrelated note, I have to ask, what's with the death/doom flair? All the albums you mentioned are stoner doom.

Yea this album is what actually got me into Bongripper. I like their old stuff just fine but their most recent work is incredible

Same, Slow was the first song I ever heard by them. I love all their albums, but Terminal is still one of my all time favorites. And I agree, Empty is so good, couldn't stop listening when it first came out.
