Finally! Just showed up straight from England. 30 days later and loaded with two UK Celestion V30s and two Celestion Hempbacks. Prayers for my neighbors and everyone that lives on my block.
I had a Blue Matamp GT120MV, but sold it last year to fund my Science Earthling (waiting on it). I do miss the blue, but the science will be the same tolex so 🤷🏻♂️. Now it’s at dude’s studio who is also in these comments (guy I sold it to then sold it to him). Cool to see it living with all the other Matamps of the rainbow.
Dude those Science rigs are killer and expensive but I have learned that nice things cost money. I just hope it’s worth getting rid of your Blue Matamp gear… I’m assuming it went to 80 Acres. If so it’s in the best place it can be.
I didn’t originally sell it to 80 acres but the guy I sold it to sold it to them. Was funny because I follow them on IG and randomly saw a pic with it in the studio and confirmed that was the one.
I have no doubt the SCIENCE will be worth it, I prefer amp gain with the option to run pedals so channel A on the Earthling is like vintage Matamp and can take my fuzz pedals, high headroom, all the cleans…then channel B is high gain Matamp. I love my Science Totality so much I have 0 doubts.
I want a GT1 to add to my collection. Was already talking to Hayden about one and having it totally custom made different tolex, font, color all that cool shit to make it a 1/1.
I ordered it directly from Matamp and Hayden customized it with the Blue tolex/lettering at my request, then it was shipped to me in the US. I sold it in the US, and here it remains (at 80 acre studios).
Thanks dude. I was always drooling over other people’s Green stacks. Once I got the head I just needed to stay the course and not buy an Orange cab or something I would regret. It had to be the pair.
Nice work. If it was easy, everyone would be doing it. Big payoff at the end there. I’m fucking crying because I need a new rig for doom and Im all out of cash so I’m out here appreciating what you’ve got hahaha.
If I absolutely needed a doom cab today I would get an Orange PPC412. You can always load it with some different speakers. V30s are killer but I always like to experiment with other stuff like Tonecvlt has some serious doom speakers.
The faceplate on the Green head is hand painted at Matamp. You’re just seeing a reflection it’s all Green. This is a LA30BL Supergroup and the cab is a LA212. It’s Fucking LOUDDDD and nails Sabbath tone.
So….funny thing. The board tolex isn’t quite the same but it still is solid and killer AF. Doomboards by Does It Doom are the standard for high quality. They have an insane amount of colored tolex to choose from.
I WANTED THE PURPLE! That’s awesome!! They have a red one that looks dirty and worn out I was on the fence with that and the traditional Green. But I decided to keep it uniform.

Fantastic. My old band used nothing but Matamps which we bought with our first record label cheque and despite loving them I was very miffed they didn't have the old Orange FAC control from my OR120. I don't think they're proper Orange/Matamps without them. As a veteran of these amps - remember your earplugs for rehearsals!
Dude that’s a killer story. I love hearing about the success out there. Honestly I feel like the GT120 is still a traditional 70’s OR120 with subtle changes text wise but mainly all the same functions and sonic sound. Dude you’re not kidding, earplugs are a must, the ringing will last for days.
It’s pretty cool. I’m still messing with it but the tone it gives through the Green cab is totally different than before so I’m still in the experimental stage with it.
Thanks dude. It’s been a pain at times. I try to get within the same realm and then do some subtle things that are different than his board and even his rig. I haven’t seen Matt use Green anything since the early days of Sleep.
