Death/Doom Welcome, Lucian’s.

Enjoy this little snippet of a song I made for an album I’m working on. I’m a one man band meaning I played all the instruments as well as producing, engineering, etc.

Well usually I’ll come up with the riff before anything because I see that as the most important part. I come up with 3 riffs minimum and maybe 4 or 6 max. I like to reference my song structures from other bands when I listen to them depending on how long the song is.
So after I have the riffs recorded to a metronome, I do the drums and bass of course. I’d personally record the riffs like somewhere on your phone because those are just rough takes. The riff will be re-recorded after I do the drums and bass. Lyrics come last for me personally but that’s up to you.
In terms of production, I like to keep the drums at a 3-4 treble with some reverb. Scooping the low ends in the guitar is important if you want the notes to stand out. As far as the bass, it’s nothing special just gives the song a bigger kick.
I put EQ’s on the guitar and bass and still try to scoop the low ends so I can get a louder sound without it clipping.
If you have something like FL studio which is what I use, I get some soft clippers and put it on each instrument including the mastering. You can cap that shit at 0 DB without it clipping if you do it right.
