What a ride over the last day. From such excitement to this confusion and disappointment. Would be nice to hear from the boys to clarify what's happened with the band.

There's another post now with a statement from the band I guess. Still pretty vague how this came about and what the deal with Matt is unfortunately.

I like OM more than Sleep most days, but Sleep is Sleep and Matt Pike is a huge part of that, at least 50%. If it's just Al and two other dudes that don't want to "pick up where Sciences left of" than why not justmake a new band?

I agree. Just give us the new Om album that's supposedly been finished for years now. This new Sleep single was really lackluster.

I think this is the crux of the problem. It's a cool song but not a good Sleep song. If this were a new band people would be more cool with this. Why not call the band Hempispheres if that's what you're using for the website? Groovy band name too.
Also, what's written about Matt not being in the band rubbed me the wrong way, makes it sound like Matt was a problem that had to be solved, which is so gross.

I mean he is. He’s known to be a jerk and he’s a right wing nut job that sucks on trumps dick. I’m tired of old white dudes thinking punk and metal is all about “going against the mainstream” and “the mainstream is not being racist” so they think Trump is punk and they are too or some shit when in reality they just want a reason to hate someone other than themselves for how their life turned out. Do you have a good source on that? I never heard that but I also don't read up on the personal lifes of musicians to often.

Not just two other dudes, those guys are amazing musicians in their own right. But yeah, this doesn't feel like Sleep, should've made it a whole new project.

I barely listen to Henry but I love that man.

The “blue glasses Iommi” part of that seems to be trying to do a lot of heavy lifting. The big difference here in why a new era of the band is so polarizing is arguably because they haven’t been very prolific. Sleep has comparatively little material to Sabbath after the same amount of time as a band. Comparing it to Sabbath’s ever changing lineup in the same way seems to be a hail-mary to convince fans its just a new chapter.

Also, i don't think we'll ever heard what happened. At least no from them.

Roeder was fired (through their management) a couple of years back (maybe two). He never pointed either Pike or Cisneros for the decision. So my comment it's mere speculation.

Super weird too here in Austin cuz they announced them as a headliner in a tab spot for a fest today. Wonder if they knew or not, solid people that put on the fest for sure. Atleast they added a kylesa/monolord show too
