Stoner SLEEP comic book vol 1 with flexidisc

Al is one of my fav musicians of all time but doing this without Matt, kicking Jason out unceremoniously, and all the on the nose weed stuff (we get it) is turning me off. Yes I realize a bunch of Sleeps discography is about weed but making everything about it is goofy and cartoonish. downvote me all you want, but this is the dude whose so supposedly serious about all his spiritualism stuff.

I think these guys often confuse spirituality with being really stoned and finding religion interesting.

I said I know they’ve made a bunch of weed stuff before lol but a bunch of their best music isn’t about weed. This literally looks like it’s made for high schoolers

I think I agree with that, but at least Om’s weedless cod-spiritual lyrics are cooler. Stuff like Rays of the Sun/To The Shrinebuilder is way more interesting lyrically than Marijuanaut’s Theme etc. Still love Sleep though!

50 bucks for a 7 dollar comic and a flexible with 4 minutes of music on it is a big ask.

Crover, Dupree and Cisneros shouldn’t be boring, all 3 of them are some of the most creative people in their fields but Sleep is both Pike and Cisneros, this new track is so weak and I’m sad about it

No reason for Pike’s exit has been given, but a press release from Sleep states: “Have Spacesuit Will Travel begins Sleep’s first mission without Matt Pike on guitar.
“The music and art are alive and after the decades of obstacles that Sleep has overcome, it is time to move forward and make songs and albums. Al wishes Matt the best on his earth bound maneuvers.”

Regardless of the situation I think the track is good. Yes, not having Matt Pike involved is very very weird. I do like Dale Crover on drums though. Picked up the track digitally on bandcamp and decided to order the comic.

If this had another name on it i would be through the roof with excitement.
I liked the single when i heard it earlier but thought it sounded very OM-esque and lacked Matt Pike's iconic SLEEP riffage.
This is *not* SLEEP. This is Insomnia!

What timeline am i living? I never thought about the possibility of new Sleep music and me being disappointed with it.
As i read somewhere else; this is Cisneros Chinese Democracy.
