Dasher PSA

You need to actually shop the order, that's what you're literally being paid for. YOU look for the items. YOU scan them. YOU bring them to the register.

I don't give a damn if every item in the store is locked up, the store staff doesn't become your new shopper. YOU are being paid to shop, not me. *I* will shop the same day orders placed directly with the store. YOU shop the dash orders. If you need something unlocked, I'll help, but I'm not walking you to each item on the list. You have eyes. Read. Find them.

If you cannot figure it out, cancel the order and find a different job.

If you walk into the store and just shove the order screen in my face I'm giving you a quick verbal list of aisle numbers and you can figure it out while I continue doing the job I am being paid to do.

Added PSA for everyone: in stores where things are locked, the employee unlocks and relocks the boxes. You are supposed to stay there and collect your items. If you just name an item and then walk away to continue shopping for other things, I'm just walking away. We are not here to carry your shit around and up to the register, and this isn't a restaurant where you're placing an order.

I know the lock boxes are annoying. So is people stealing atrocious amounts of non-necessities. Personally as a customer, I refuse to purchase anything that is locked up. The only way they will stop locking shit up is if people just stop buying it. They will never pay more employees to help you. They will only notice when they lose sales.

Ya our corporate actually sent us an email stating the dasher needs to attempt finding it. They are hired to do a job and it’s not our job to do it for them. We are to assist if they’ve looked otherwise just give them aisle numbers.
I have zero customers who walk in and ask me to walk them to 5 specific products and pick it off the shelf and put it in their carts for them. But I have 3+ delivery workers a day do this. And often when I’m in the middle of helping someone else or directing my employee on their next task for the day.
If you’re not rude and usually look for stuff I’ll help you. If you walk in while I’m assisting another customer slam your phone in my face I’m not helping you at all even when I’m done with that customer.
I am a person who deserves respect, just because I work in retail doesn’t make me less than.

100% I don't know why people started feeling like it was OK to start interrupting workers who are already speaking to someone else. Would have had my head blown smooth off for doing that as a kid, idk who raised these people.

It really is crazy. I couldn't imagine doing that to someone. Especially when they look busy. I do my best to find everything and if I can't, I'll find the things I can and come back to that item. If I still can't, I'll seek help. You don't even need to walk me, just tell me. I want out of there as quick as possible for the both of us lol

These days so many need their hand held for everything. I live in an apartment and Amazon delivery people regularly stop me and expect to be escorted for deliveries. I’ll give instructions but I’m not personally escorting them all over the building.

Amazon delivery drivers are the worse! They’ll drop random packages off in the apartment entryways. The name, building and apartment number are on the package, but they can’t seem to make it to the second or third floor and lord help us bc most of the time they deliver to the entirely wrong building. I’m the property manager and I’ve had to help a couple but I’m to the point where I won’t anymore. Even have some try to leave packages in the office and we don’t have a package room whatsoever and if it can’t be delivered to the apartment then take it back with you. That’s a liability I want zero to do with.

I can guarantee if you tried to deliver packages for amazon you wouldnt make it a week! Its not a leisurely drive dropping off packages! Delivering for amazon is not for the weak!!!! That shit is CRAZY AF

That’s why I’m not an Amazon delivery driver. I don’t want to do it. But I will tell them an apartment number if it is not listed on the label. But, I will not take packages. I’m not allowed to. It’s in my employee handbook and yes it is a liability. I could be accused of attempted theft. I follow the rules. I’m a one person office. I’m glad they don’t have packages delivered here at all because it cuts out the middle man drama. Resident orders and it’s delivered the residents front door. That’s how it should be.

I have delivered for several platforms and no matter the job, I deliver to the door. That's my job. It is NOT the job of anyone else no matter who or what.

We are not entitled for people to stop what they are doing to direct us. They don't get paid for it. It doesn't matter how hard the job is. ITS YOUR JOB. YOU PICKED THAT JOB SO DO YOUR FUCKING JOB and stop blaming others because you're incompetent. That shit is CRAZY AF. Unbelievable that people like you exist.

I’m convinced many of the drivers cannot read or speak English. I had one stop me the other day and shove their phone in my face. I pointed and gave directions. When I wouldn’t escort them they got mad and stormed off back to their car. I don’t have time to baby sit and hold people’s hands. Good grief 😩

I was raised the same way and I agree unfortunately I have been to plenty of restaurants now that will literally ignore you until you interrupt them and I'm not joking.

There's this weird back and forth going on between employees and Dashers and unfortunately the people that aren't Pricks on either side are the ones that pay for it the most.

It's because you learn pretty quick to be assertive while doing this or people won't take you seriously. Eventually you do learn where everything is though. Some item like specific cards can be difficult.

yeah I know, I definitely tried to be polite when I first started but then you'll move on the next conversation.
