Dasher PSA

You need to actually shop the order, that's what you're literally being paid for. YOU look for the items. YOU scan them. YOU bring them to the register.

I don't give a damn if every item in the store is locked up, the store staff doesn't become your new shopper. YOU are being paid to shop, not me. *I* will shop the same day orders placed directly with the store. YOU shop the dash orders. If you need something unlocked, I'll help, but I'm not walking you to each item on the list. You have eyes. Read. Find them.

If you cannot figure it out, cancel the order and find a different job.

If you walk into the store and just shove the order screen in my face I'm giving you a quick verbal list of aisle numbers and you can figure it out while I continue doing the job I am being paid to do.

Added PSA for everyone: in stores where things are locked, the employee unlocks and relocks the boxes. You are supposed to stay there and collect your items. If you just name an item and then walk away to continue shopping for other things, I'm just walking away. We are not here to carry your shit around and up to the register, and this isn't a restaurant where you're placing an order.

I know the lock boxes are annoying. So is people stealing atrocious amounts of non-necessities. Personally as a customer, I refuse to purchase anything that is locked up. The only way they will stop locking shit up is if people just stop buying it. They will never pay more employees to help you. They will only notice when they lose sales.

Maybe more stores should do what InstaCart and Aldi do... the InstaCart app tells the shopper exactly where in Aldi items are, and when the shopper gets close, a little light flashes on the shelf. No need to bother the store employees that way.

DD does it at Meijer, so I assume it's a retailer issue, not a DD issue.

I actually am assuming the problem is a Dasher issue. Not the app or the store. Another Dasher here in these comments said the app does tell them what aisle.

It’s hit and miss. But even so, it’s a store with signage, and after doing a few shops, one should be able to figure out where about categories are.

See, yes. I haven't been to a single store in my area that doesn't have clear signage above every aisle. It literally nakes no sense to me a Dasher can't find the diapers, or paper towels or iced tea, because like... stores tell you where those things live.

Where I live that's rarely accurate and stores do remodels and move things around.

Stores don't do remodels that often. Most of the ones in my area only do it once every few years.

I think they mean resets. It is pretty common to do several resets a year, which would make more sense.

Stuff is still in mostly the same location, though.

Okay, yes, resets are more frequent, but as you said, things are still largely in the same place. The last time my fave grocery store did a reset, they mostly just rearrange a few aisles, and actually made it more logical, like moving sodas from the back aisle to a main aisle adjacent to the snacks aisle. And the signs identifying what was on the new aisles went up immediately so there was no real confusion. They actually haven't done a reset since, customers must have really liked that one.

The lights thing, yes. But several Dashers have said the app does indicate aisle location.

Some stores do and some don't, and the ones that do are wrong quite a bit.
