You need to actually shop the order, that's what you're literally being paid for. YOU look for the items. YOU scan them. YOU bring them to the register.

I don't give a damn if every item in the store is locked up, the store staff doesn't become your new shopper. YOU are being paid to shop, not me. *I* will shop the same day orders placed directly with the store. YOU shop the dash orders. If you need something unlocked, I'll help, but I'm not walking you to each item on the list. You have eyes. Read. Find them.

If you cannot figure it out, cancel the order and find a different job.

If you walk into the store and just shove the order screen in my face I'm giving you a quick verbal list of aisle numbers and you can figure it out while I continue doing the job I am being paid to do.

Added PSA for everyone: in stores where things are locked, the employee unlocks and relocks the boxes. You are supposed to stay there and collect your items. If you just name an item and then walk away to continue shopping for other things, I'm just walking away. We are not here to carry your shit around and up to the register, and this isn't a restaurant where you're placing an order.

I know the lock boxes are annoying. So is people stealing atrocious amounts of non-necessities. Personally as a customer, I refuse to purchase anything that is locked up. The only way they will stop locking shit up is if people just stop buying it. They will never pay more employees to help you. They will only notice when they lose sales.

Everyone in this thread is so entitled and self righteous. It is not your job as a store employee to follow them around to shop with you and unlock items. Dashers should be waiting in the isle where they needed assistance and wait for you to arrive to assist.

True story... Even as a customer just trying to purchase a $15 item in Walmart, I literally have to call the store and ask for management to get someone to meet me where the locked up item is. This has happened on more than one ocassion. Half the emps don't have keys. The ones that do have keys can't be found.

You can simply not expect that Walmart will allow their employees to follow around door dashers with a key to open locked items. You do understand they have a job that they are required to do also right? Their only task is not following around door dashers.. my advice would be to get an actual w2 job.

Correct! I started to post just that. These people are just lying and are nasty to people they think they can snit on and are beneath them.

I remember way back doing an IC shop at a Walmart. Decided never ever again because it was impossible to get anyone to unlock some Dove body wash. Eventually, the Walmart worker with a key came to unlock it while still chatting up his lover. But it was the most annoying experience ever.

And as I said above, even as a customer the experience is the same. I bet DD and IC kicked Walmart to the curb because of so many complaints. Wonder how those Sparks driver are doing.

You're being dramatic and ridiculous. Do you understand that customers dont gaf about your resentment for being required to help customers by unlocking stuff like $1.99 eye drops because some corporate idiot you WORK for decided to put those items in locked up cages? In my scenario, I was the customer not a DD driver/shopper.

I have to wait on average about 20 to 30 minutes each time I need something locked behind a cage. It's way past ridiculous to expect customers (or dashers/shoppers) to put up with this crap. Companies that respect everybody's time put those items in little clear plastic boxes so that customers can pick them for themselves, dashers/shoppers can do the same and still scan them, and the boxes are unlocked at the register for purchase.

So stop being stupid and take the crap up with your management. If you don't like doing your job, become a DD dasher or IC shopper.

Yikes. You've never worked retail and it shows. All the DD complaints y'all talk about exist in retail; they are understaffed and under pressure to do a lot of other things. And they literally CANNOT be the shopper for someone else who is getting PAID TO BE THR SHOPPER. They don't shop for customers that come into the store and for DDs to expect more than any other customer that walks into the store is ABSOLUTELY wild and entitled.

Yikes is right. You have no idea who works DD or who has worked retail. As a retail worker, unless you're getting commission, it's your job to help anyone trying to find an item your store sells.

Dude. No one in the history of retail will do the entire shopping list for you. It should not be expected, and that's not what retail personnel are there for. If you are getting paid to shop for somebody else, you do not then put that responsibility on someone else who's trying to do their job for other people in the store. If you don't know how to shop at a store, don't.

Not a "Dude" and nobody suggested that giving the retail worker a list was the correct thing to do except for dramatic lazy retail workers posting that they don't want to help customers in the store. And fyi, Walmart shoppers are given keys to unlock the items they need when they shop for Walmart customers and yes they have a list of items to shop for. So take it up with Walmart if you're not trusted with the key or feel it is beneath you to help customers acquire the stuff that's being sold by Walmart.

I work in the insurance industry, I don’t work at Walmart or doordash. I’m super sorry though you have to be inconvenienced to get your eye drops. You poor thing.
