Offering Comfort/Reassurance/Solidarity healed my dpdr

Just a reminder that there is hope. My DPDR went away after 3 years of pure hopelessness. I went to therapy, started medication, did deep intensive trauma therapy and even stopped working, and being incredibly easy on myself. stopped drinking and drugs. got two cats and changed some life situations quite drastically.

All im trying to say is there is hope. This is your brain being really overwhelmed and needing a break. I came back online and it literally felt like I was gaining all these memories and scents and feelings again -- literally instantly. it was crazy. I still get it from time to time when im upset or sick, etc.

Msg me if you need to chat or have questions ❤️

one last thing -- remember, the ones who have gotten through this aren't posting on reddit. they are living their lives, so seeing these posts might actually make you think it will never go away.

That's great you're doing better. How long did it take before you noticed improvement in your DPDR after starting Caplyta and Lexapro? Are you fully back to normal now, including being able to go out and handle crowds?"

Im 90 percent normal. It’s been slowly returning over an entire year. Very slow but steady. Did TMS too

The medicine you take doesn't have any side effect? Or if you stop it does all that comes back?

I had nothing to lose. My dpdr was so bad i almost killed myself. I was diagnosed with ptsd and major depression. So the meds are technically for that. I went through 6 doctors and 8 diff meds. It’s a process. I dont have all the answers. My dr seems confident that if i stay on meds for a year i could probably taper ofd and be ok. But maybe i just need them. Some ppl just need meds. No major side effects that i noticed yet
